Off topic but, what were your plans for flats or other mechanical issues you may of come across? I've got a MT winged 991.2 and I'm thinking what gear I need to lug for a just in case moment.

Good question. I thought about this and just figured I might have to wait a bit for any help. I was never more than 4 hours from any Porsche dealers. I did have one scare when I drove thru some broken glass from a recent accident.

On an interesting note, my car occasionally has the smoke on startup, but it did not happen once while on the trip.

The car is filthy and has been sitting in my garage since I returned on Tuesday. I plan to spend all day tomorrow cleaning it. I have to figure out how to access the radiators, as they're covered in bugs, leaves and straw.

Bugs behind the grill are a real pain - lucky I have a great detailer and his team takes care of mine :P

Any idea how you access behind the grills? I assume from underneath.

Lol, fair point. We also need some pic of the Touring actually "touring." Here are a couples pics for from my recent trip where I drove for 12 hours within a 20-hour span.

the bottom picture looks like Kings Mountain Rd or Tunitas Creek Rd - let me know if I’m close.

FYI, I recently discovered that the PSE exhaust flaps in the Touring work in a completely different way to a PDK. I thought (hoped) that it would be my go to car on a daily basis but instead it is now one of my last.

And yes, I have the BOSE in my Touring but not in my GT3.2 PDK.
get center bypass and open valves full time ... problem solved

ask any of those 991 people who bought the 911 R or crazy odd one😜’S that paid close to $1M ... some prefer the look over a track look

Some people, myself included, find it appealing to not have a loud wing. People who have owned a few or many gt cars, probably find such a proposition more appealing. For example if you had a 2RS or 3RS would you still want a winged GT3?

If I pulled up next to a guy in a touring I would give him a nod of respect, thinking he was after the engine, gearbox and enjoyment without wanting to let the world know. Pretty cool if you ask me.

If done right, it gives the opportunity to build a new 911 Porsche, with the perfect engine, and resemble the old school style. To me it has nothing to do with the R. But it gives me a chance to try the GT3 without the wing, which hasn’t really been offered before with a 9k rpm 500hp engine, GT3 suspension and near 3000 lbs weight. I don’t care if people recognize the wing so they know it’s a GT3. They’ll know anyways when I drive by. Plus any downforce difference is it not noticeable until over 130 mph, which doesn’t apply to 90% of street driving. For mostly track car, that’s why there is an RS.

There are about 23-24 911 variants. Why not one more? It’s Porsche marketing at its best...

Replace word “Touring” for “Road car” ... not sure this car was designed or intended for comfortable long journeys but rather backroads and countryside blasts

perhaps name better GT3 RC
