Default How much PCNA $$ sales of GT's? We reveal!

The PORS9 database contains 20,000 Porsche vehicle profiles for North America from the Carrera GT through the 911R. This includes summary MSRP data which we have compiled and are releasing publicly for the first time. This is the second in a three part series of releases that covers the Turbos (2007 - 2013), GTs (2007 - 2016) and Special Editions (2004 - 2016) of the PORS9 database.

So just how much in sales has PCNA generated selling GT models? .... find out and tally the total at the bottom of the post!

Interesting Info? Nice to see some real number to dispel the rumors that circulated on the forum a year or so ago. Thanks for sharing!

1500 Gt3 Rs? It seems people were throwing around numbers like 4000 in the us. 1500 is pretty limited for the 2016 model - relatively speaking

^ That's a North American production number , not global.

^Exactly as stated by the OP and all over their web page.... such as:

Grand Total North America (2007-2016)
This group of GT cars represents two periods and two model series (997 and 991) so totals are not representative of much – other than the popularity of NA Porsche GT cars! And the fact that more recent the economic conditions have allowed the – totally uncorked and unlimited – sales of 991 model GT cars to skew the totals (60% of the dollar sales from 2007 to 2016 were in the three year period of 2014-2016) which indicates that these are good times for Porsche. Total North America Units Sold: 6,621

Glad to share .. I don't think most people think about how much $$ Porsche generates from some of these models in NA alone!

That's just total sales (or gross revenues). Not profit margins, or even marginal revenues.

All of this is public information.

Yeah would love to know what the actual net was, not gross. Probably closely guarded numbers though. I'm willing to bet 991.2 GT3 sales are double the 991.1 GT3. But 991.2 RS sales are probably about even, if not less.

net is public figure too (16.4% in Q1 '18) but not at GT specific level.

Or being claimed to be much lower... which may have been based on original info from Porsche (and wishful thinking...)

991.1 GT3 RS (2016)
  • North America Units Sold: 1,529
  • Average MSRP: $205,311
  • Total Model Retail Sales: $313.9 million
Our comment: Another outstanding sales performance from a totally revamped GT3 RS. Porsche hinted that production would be very limited, then that they would only produce 600 units for North America, then it was to be capped around 900 … the fun finally stopped at 1,529 units built and over $310 million in sales for North America alone. Doesn’t seem anyone takes seriously anymore Porsche’s interest in keeping production numbers limited – they will build as many as they can sell .. and they seem to build them a lot faster than they used to!

158/600 from the 997.2 RS 4.0 supposedly made it to America.

That doesn't prove the percentages are similar for other cars but that would put 991.1 3RS worldwide production around 6000 which is what I seem to remember floating around.

Thanks for sharing! I've always wondered what % of total sales GT cars represented. Based on the numbers in the link and sources below, along with some of my assumptions, I did some calculations since it's been a slow Monday:
  • GT3/RS = ~28% of total 911 units sold for NA in 2016 (assumption - 1000 GT3s in 2016)
  • GT3/RS = ~36% of total 911 revenue for NA in 2016 (assumption - average 911 MSRP = $130,000)
  • GT3/RS = ~5% of total Porsche units sold for NA in 2016
  • GT3/RS = ~8% of total Porsche revenue for NA in 2016 (assumption - average PORSCHE MSRP = $105,000)
On the last bullet, if you factor in the GT4, GT sales represented ~12% of Porsche NA revenue for 2016 based on my broad assumptions. It will be interesting to see what that number is in 2017 and 2018.

Not so sure this site is all that accurate. They indicate 67 2016 GT3's in the US and only one with Sapphire Blue. Mine was not one of them!
