Ceramic brakes or not for GT3
Ok, so I am looking to buy my first GT3 as we speak, MT 2017/18, but I need help on brakes. I do plan to track this car, so ceramic brakes or go standard? I have heard some people don't like ceramic for brakes, so figure I would love to hear from this GT3 group. And thanks in advance. Such a great board to chat with other Porsche lovers.

There are numerous posts on this topic already: pro & con. Happy reading.

Check the current replacement cost for rotors. Last time I did the math in 2014, PCCB rotors would need to last 10+x as long. I couldn't get comfortable they would go that long. And was sure I would chip them changing wheels. There are some other options for refurb or replacement recently discussed here in other threads. The iron rotor calipers have weak points too for track including the ceramic pucks cracking, need to remove calipers to change pads etc. If I had an incoming GT3 and planned to track, I'd skip PCCBs and put the cost toward the AP brake kit. Best of luck.

If street use only and initial cost is not an issue then go PCCB. There is a reason why nearly every modern supercar such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche 918, etc. has them, they are state of the art in fade resistance, weight reduction and service life. In addition, the yellow calipers look wicked pissa and there is no brake dust. If tracking the car, suggest standard steels or upgraded discs for your intended purpose and significant cost savings.

PCCBs are great.
You can always switch pads and iron rotors for track use.

There is no reason not to track the Gen III PCCBs.

To save you time in researching the various steel vs PCCB threads, let me summarize: The general consensus is there is no consensus. It is right up there with the PDK vs manual debate. Different strokes for different folks. I have steels on my GTS and they are awesome brakes. I am going with PCCBs on the GT3 because I have been disappointed with the fact that I have had to switch out the brake pads both at my one and two year service. I am not particularly heavy footed when it comes to accelerating or braking. I never track the car. I am hoping that the PCCBs last longer and require fewer replacements. Based on my research, they can last a long time. No brake dust is a nice bonus, as is the diminished unsprung weight. Both are great brakes but I am going to splurge for the PCCBs for my touring build.

It real depends on how many times a year you track and how aggressive you are as a track guy. If you are doing 5/10 tracks days a year and you are out to get lap times then I would probably start away from pccb
Pccb are great. No brake dust l. Lighter weight. The last forever on the street but don't like extended high temps on hard track braking.

This car will be my daily driver and I park it on the street, lol. So, dust doesn't matter, I will track it probably 5-10 days a year and as with my GTS now, when I drive it, I mash all the pedals, lol. I love taking mountain roads from Santa Monica back to Thousand Oaks, about 20+ minutes of some pretty hard driving, its super ridiculously amount of fun. Sounds like standard brakes have more pro's vs cons. Great info, I really appreciate the replies.
and thank god I don't have to go on some social media site like facebook, twitter or other junk. I have been in IT for almost 30 years, cant stand social media, so love this rennlist, lots of amazing people and helpful info. Thanks!!!

It personal preference and what you want to spend. The upgrade price is approx two full brake swaps for irons. And the PCCB replacement cost is way more...
Only you can decide what you want to buy. They are both great brakes.
