Default Manual stalling .2 GT3

hello fellas;

I've had my GT3 now for <3 weeks and have about 400 miles logged. Lovin' every minute and mile. However, I've noticed that getting the car to move from a stop in 1st, that I've managed to stall it about ~4 times since ownership. And the other times, the starts are jerky. Just imagine teaching your 16 year old daughter to drive a stick for the first time--not pretty nor smooth.

I find the combination of a super light clutch peddle and bite point different than my 991.1 GTS. I think this is screwing with my head. Anyone have any advice or similar "problems" to me?

Cheers

I find it pretty easy in 1st, but have stalled a couple times in reverse (seems the reverse gear is pretty tall - good for driving fast backwards, I guess )

ya, I'm wondering if it's just me. I think my timing is a bit off coming out of my .1GTS.

but man, the first time I drove it off the lot, I almost slammed the clutch peddle through the firewall lol

For first time drivers it can be easy to mistake 1st and 3rd gear. My son drove the car and stalled in a few times only to notice that he was starting from 3rd gear thinking it was in 1st. Just a thought.

I'll pay close attention next time, but doubt that was my issue.

Give it time - took me a dozen drives to get used to the new clutch and transmission - the gt4 was messing with my mind and now I much prefer the GT3 clutch setup.

You're probably just too excited when you're driving that beauty of a machine.....

Does the GT3 have the stupid at x RPM the computer shuts off the engine feature? I have a car like that and it was infuriating because you get no real warning before a stall.

No (but it does cut the fuel at 9,000 rpm )

Got used to the clutch coming from a GT4 in a few times driving it. Grearbox feels amazing to me. Probably one of the best I've driven. It is a little lighter than the GT4, but I find it stiffer than regular 911's. Far from super light as some describe it though.

I came from a .1 GTS too but feel quite differently. The .2 GT3 6MT is the easiest manual that I’ve ever experienced. Almost no learning curve. IMO the GTS’s heavy clutch was nowhere near as simple to engage smoothly. Love the lighter feel of the clutch pedal and extremely forgiving release. Strange to have such different experiences.

My experience is like yours. Much easier clutch than my E46 M3.

Coming from the GT4, it is taking me some time to get used to the clutch of the GT3 as well. Patience and keep driving, it will smooth out.

Neurotic,

For the "And the other times, the starts are jerky." part ==> you may want to crank the car 3-5 seconds after turning the ignition on. For whatever reason when you immediately start your engine from cold after it sat for a couple of days the start is jerky and the car has difficulty stabilizing at its idle rpm. The gas pedal will not respond during that sequence. Not all cars do it and it is not a problem says Porsche. You may also experience this behaviour if you use a trickle charger and start cranking without waiting. Hope this helps.
