Default REALLY dumb Q: Torque wrench

Okay, just got done swapping wheels. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get the polygon tool off the head of the Precision Instruments torque wrench! It feels solidly stuck in there, there is nothing that looks like a release button or switch, but I do not want to force it. Or should I just force it? Dumb, right? HELP a stupid noob, please.

If you engaged the lock pin within the tool, you have to stick a pin down that hole in the side of the CL adapter in your pics and push down the spring-loaded pin at the bottom, and pull the adapter off at the same time.

If you didn’t engage that pin in the first place, then pull harder.

I'm with you Palting. I did the same thing and then realized the hole was there, stuck a punch in it and walah!

Keep a chopstick in the torque wrench case.

I did the same thing and also keep a chopstick in the toolbox. That stick has many uses.

I rotated my tires yesterday (second time playing with center-locks) and now have the process down to 90 minutes (with a helper in the driver seat to press the brake and hold the steering wheel straight). What could be simpler?

Yes, I struggled with the locking socket the first time too...

^ it took you 90 min? i would have expecgted you to complain a lot more. takes me 30 min to rotate tires as i run huff and puff to get car up off ground, grease nuts, etc etc...
oh i must add 30 min to that, need to scrub the hands free of grease
30 min to wash the clothes i ruined
60 min to paint the walls i got grease on.
why did i run not walk, need to hide all that evidence before wife gets home

I looked for it for a few minutes the first time also. Another tip for you guys instead of breaking your back. It is a torque wrench, so put all of your weight on the very end with two hands (one hand on top of the other). That way you get more torque. Do it in a direction you can easily push down or pull up. Makes it a lot easier.

I feel like this is part of the center lock process initiation.

I ran into this too. Swapped the nut back and forth between the torque wrench and breaker bar without issue a couple times and then OMG IT'S STUCK HOW DOES THIS COME OFF???

I stumbled across the hole myself and got it off and then realized that if you never line up the hole with the little ball thing, it will always slide off easily.
