Am told by a reputable engine tuner who specialises in turbo engines that distilled water is absolutely not necessary. Wonder why Porsche (and BMW for that matter) suggest this. Real pain and have already come across several 2RS owners walking around the paddock in search of distilled water.

Is it not to avoid the spray nozzles getting clogged up with residue from tap water, rather than anything else? Probably not required if you strip and clean them from time to time.
I did hear of someone using AdBlu by mistake last week...

Seb, My GT2RS-owning friend cannot find any indicator that displays the level of the water in the Front Trunk water injection Tank
other than taking the cap off the tank and trying to visually observe the level - which is not possible while driving the car on track.
Is their any remote indication of the Water Level in the Water Spray Tank for the driver on the GT2RS?

My guess is that Porsche is playing it safe.
The water in my tap here where I live is mineral water quality with very low content of lime stone (not sure I'm using the right word here).
I guess that using this water is safe.

straight line of the ring with water= 325km/h
the same with out water= 312km/h
Manthey racing started to develop one big water tank upgrade.....but after no more place for the hand bag of our wifes😁

That is better than any press review of the beast....I am sooo jealous , the ring is a post-graduate track for unpaid drivers , just like the GT2RS.
thanks for the post
thanks for the post

only direct checking no light or other to indicate the quantity, just you get the feeling of less power

Nice adaptation Seb. It is like starting back from the beginning with such a monster, compared to the stability and progressivity of the GT3.
I saw the car during DN19, you were not here, so could not say hi, but It is simply one of the most desirable car of the world actually, to my opinion. Drive fast, and drive safe. And most important, have big fun !

With BMW, the water goes internal (inside the cylinders). So, I think water quality is way more critical with BMW. With 2RS, it just gets sprayed onto outside of intercoolers, so I imagine any water without many impurities would be fine.

Distilled water is a must, regardless of external use.....when the non distilled water (even many filtered types) hits intercooler it can leave mineral deposits behind (and on other external parts of engine). Those deposits can start to corrode very quickly in most world environments. Maybe not as big of a deal in really dry areas but I wouldnt take chance.
