Default Helmet and neck restraint clearance with LWBS

After installing a Cantrell bar and a Schroth harness (among a few other things), I did my first track day in my new-to-me GT3.

I find that there is a lack of room to accommodate my helmet and neck protector. As I sit in the car, my neck is craned forward. I am debating pouring a tapered seat insert in order to give me some additional clearance., but I have also seen the head pad removed from some seats online.

How have others solved this problem?

I was under the impression the headrest cushions can be removed, but the mechanic at my garage cannot confirm this so haven’t dared to push it out.

Hope someone on here can confirm and show how to do it.

If you are referring to the small cushion in between the carbon bits on the seat. YES it can be. Really easy. Take a credit card to back of seat, slide under plastic and it pops off.. Helps a little, I did it and still you feel forward in the seat. I have the same setup.. you should also look for a low profile HANS device.

LWB suck with a Hans. Suck suck suck.
I think you have to try another HNRS. Like the schroth.

Apexperformance (RL sponsor) recommends either the Schroth SHR Flex or the Necksgen Rev for the OEM LWBs. Keep in mind that PCA requires a HANS device for those with a harness beginning 2019.

Nice to see the club creating some rules that actually improve safety.

I have an original Necksgen, so it's not nearly as bad as a HANS for seat interference.
I really like to drive in a vertical position (also due to some neck issues), so reclining the seat is sub-optimal. If anything, I would try and sit a bit more vertical.
I think I will pop off the padding, and pour a bagged seat insert. I'll post up some pics in July when I have time to get around to it. Thanks everyone for the advice!

Seat mounts to "cant" your seat slightly more backwards, as per post #2. The difference of even half an inch helps considerably. And yeah remove that lil cushion, but beware the upright part of your HANS may end up rubbing right against the carbon bits of the LWB frame so put a bit of protective padding there...
