EDITED

Something to be said for a relatively basic weight-loss regimen..

-LWB - $5k - minus 30lb?
-ST rotors - $13k - minus 40lb
-side delete exhaust $3k -40lb?
-lightweight battery $300 -40lb

What does Porsche charge for 150lb weight loss?

Lightweight battery - another 35-40lb for under $1000. The 40lb unsprung being 160lb equivalent cannot be accurate, though.

40 pounds of rotating mass that is removed uniformly along a disc that is the full radius of the tire is only equivalent to removing about 60 pounds of regular mass acceleration-wise (you only get a 50% bump associated with it being rotating, contrary to popular believe). In the case of PCCB, it would be even less since the rotors are a lesser diameter than the tire.

The rebound benefits of the lesser unsprung mass would be a different benefit to assess. I'm just talking about linear acceleration...

I know that the ST CCB rotors are 50% lighter than the OEM Porsche irons, but what about the ceramics?

I installed ST rotors on my RS and it's really amazing! Good braking power, no brake dust and way way lighter than my steel rotors! I lost 42lbs. of unsprung weight!
Thanks for the feedback 911_RS! : )

We have weighed them in the past and the difference was negligible between the ST and PCCB rotors. That being said, we are going to be doing an installation shortly on and I'll be sure to get a comparison between the two for you guys so we have some fresh numbers : )

Right on. Posted this elsewhere:
My mods .1RS VS OEM .2RS:

Mine is 3220lb with 1/4 tank of fuel.
ST rotors, side muffler delete (with valves, Fabspeed), steel GT3 center muffler (Ti in a box) and 19” Forgelines on 295/30/19 and 345/3019 R7.
Nothing removed otherwise; OEM battery, BBI roll bar, two 6 Point harnesses, full leather, wheel tool, floor mats and manuals on board.
So it doesn’t take that much to get a .1RS below 3200.

Performance in real life:At Sebring stock with side muffler delete I ran 2:15x.
Added: GT3.2RS spring rates, diffuser, lb VS steel? 19" forgeline lb? Hoosier R7 lb? and ST rotors VS steel lb? it runs 2:12x

The rotors by themselves were good for .5 seconds, insulated from any other mods tested.

Weight is one thing of course and the other is center of gravity being much lower on 19", but alos the rake is much more adjustable (Nose on the ground) as well as Hoosier R7 grip VS N1, N2 and N2R in their prime...
I could insulate and split tire performance VS weight and ride height by raising the car up and run the N2 and N2R tires one day..

Great detailed insight! We are getting a better scale and should be able to better fill in the blanks on some of those in the near future

Another great review for ST rotors : )

“I race a 2016 Porsche GT4 in Australia and have had the pleasure of receiving advice and technical support from John and Gavin at Autoquest who have helped with my race setup and getting the most out of this wonderful car. Most recently I fitted a set of Surface Transforms Carbon Ceramic brake rotors to the Porsche (supplied by Autoquest) and the results are outstanding. The brakes run noticeably cooler and combined with Pagid RSC1 pads there is zero fade and a great feeling pedal. The unsprung weight of approx. 23 kgs no doubt helps the suspension performance. Thanks John and Gavin I hope to keep working with you and the wonderful team at Autoquest to make my GT4 the best performing car down under”……..Tim Hendy 2017 Australian Tarmac Rally Champion

Remember the VW I.D. R that smashed the Pike's Peak Hillclimb record? Well this weekend it just beat the Goodwood Electric hillclimb record by 3.5 seconds and is going for the overall record next year.

This car is running ST ceramic rotors, and yours can too

Hi all - So I decided to switch from steel rotors to CCB and decided to go with the ST setup. I am very pleased with the results! Thanks to Gavin at AutoQuest for helping out with my new setup. Great guy and very very helpful! Here's some pics:

Looks awesome, I was worried about chalk and the ST hat color but looks perfect. I will post up a pic on the gt2 when they are moved from the boxes to the car ;-)

LOL! Yeah that was back in my going to the track all the time days.... Great car as it was a slick top 2006 Competition Package car with GC suspension, Vortech S/C, Stoptech brakes etc etc. Pic was taken as I was exiting the uphill esses at VIR (most awesome track!).
