You guys could come up with a far more accurate list representing Porschefiles preferences.

Perhaps someone should start a thread(s) with numerous clever polls and come up with the "definitive" RL list...certainly of more value than a few journo's trying to sell ad space.

I know my relatively inexperienced Top Ten list (of enjoyable Porsches I would like to own and drive, not rarity/value) would certainly include (in no specific order):
CGT
911R
991.2 GT3 (either wing or touring)
997 RS
993 Turbo
964 turbo
911 Carrera 3.2 turbo look
early '70s 911S
356 spyder
550

note: no 924, 944, 928, boxer, cayman, GT4, cayenne, Panamera, macan, of any variant...zeeero interest.
(Though I have owned a Panamera Turbo, and currently have a Cayenne Turbo for the Wife. )

Still my favorite Porsche built Porsche I've ever had ( The Singer is the only other car that I'd give it a nod to, but it's a bit of a different creature in general). Nothing else has been nearly as much fun, yet as usable as the 911r.

Gt4 over cgt? This lost all credibility.

How can you be so serious?
And how can you take serioulsy a ranking of the "greatest" 70 Porsche of the last 70 years, that includes... a Lohner-Porsche, produced around 1900-1905

CGT should be No 1 IMO..You could argue all day on No 2, but the CGT at No 1 is a dead cert..

why? The cgt is a wonderful car but it's definitely not a dead cert for that. A decent case can be made that the cgt is the best Porsche to drive but no way could one consider it 'the greatest Porsche'. The cgt sits somewhat in the Porsche range as a bit of an odd one out as its not a car like the 959 or 918 that clearly has had or will have a big impact on the future direction of the range and it isn't the car that has made Porsche iconic (the 2.7rs) or even the car that has made Porsche the massive financial success it is today (the cayenne which probably has legit claims as the number 1 imo).

I have not driven a CGT but understand they are not easy to drive. I have driven a 918. Really didn't like it. YMMV.

I think the CGT is the greatest "supercar" porsche has ever made at the end of the day, but absolutely not the best sports car. You can't use that thing for damn on an even near daily basis (this doesn't mean there aren't a couple people who do, but they are definitely the exception), it bottoms out and scrapes just about anywhere not perfectly flat and its not really a car you "play with" vs a car you really have to understand and master...all of which hype up the epic and intense parts of a drive, but detract from it's ability as a car on a speed governed road with generally less than great conditions. However, you could argue it's the most incredible motor porsche has ever made...I'd also give it that...

Asking about differences in shocks or suspension parts between the R and .1 GT3 a Porsche parts source could not find any. Only difference R has more under body aero for downforce to compensate for no wing.

Somewhere is this thread someone asked that I post pictures of the latest lightweight parts for the R. and, while, as I indicated, I have no pictures, the update is:

1. the Carbon Fiber Oil Tank should be completed within a few weeks;

2. the lithium aluminum front and rear brake calipers with the titanium dry breaks instead of bleed screws should be in machining by the end of June; and

3. there is a possibility that there might be a carbon clutch for the R.

That sounds awesome, Bob! How does that work when you bleed brakes? I’m always wary of those steel bleed screws in aluminum bodied calipers...

Oh, and I have a friend with a .2 GT3 who had a leaky oil tank from new -on a seam, so your CF one may save weight and work better too.

Either with a single hose with a dry break fitting on it or via a special high pressure electric pump that can evacuate the entire system in a few minutes.
