I found the Touring more planted and quicker on track but I bought my car primarily for road use.

I have a Touring. If they were the same price, I would swap, but it’s not worth 2x a Touring to me so I guess I will make do with the 16th best Porsche!
Summed it up very well.

Haven’t driven a customer / production car, what are the differences? Would be interesting to know just in case I ever take the plunge ( -;
000 is a pre production car, that's why its not homologated for road use, I also have the spec/build sheet its 100% no SMFW. This is one of the first things I enquired about after I drove the car. It did not feel or sound like a SMFW. The main differences Imv over that 000 car to the customer cars is the SMFW, the way the shift change feels a lot lighter sharper. The engine also revs up a lot quicker. The customer car feels like it has another 10% Bhp, also the steering feels lighter more alive on the customer cars.

In relation to the Touring. In my experience the Touring sounds just as loud as the R inside. Also it feels much more planted on the road. Mine also sits lower than my R on stock settings. But like above its the SMFW that makes a big difference in the way the cars drive. The R also feels much lighter than its 1270 dry weight. Its also moves around more on the back than the Touring. The R reminds me very much like a 964 RS the way the engine revs/feels on the road. Whist the Touring feels like it has more TQ lower down. In a line form 20-140 Plus Nothing between the 2 cars.

According to AP no...and why would you? The Touring spins up very quickly anyway.

And BTW, I would swap my Touring for an R in a hear beat.

Here are the top 20. Some curious inclusions and some glaring omissions. And that applies to the whole list of 70 cars.

I agree. I love my 964 Speedster as well.

The 991.2 GT3T is a better car than the 912r. It has a better engine with more torque down low. It also has a tweeked suspension, rws and better tires. The only thing the 911r has going it, is that it limited. It is one of the most overhyped car Porsche has produced imo. I’d take a 997.2 4.0 RS ovee it any day.

I love my GT3T but I think the R hits a sweeter spot for fun on the road with the LWFW, suspension and tires. The GT3 is just too potent for road legal speeds and a little dull until you are 70mph+. It's got the whole Jeckel & Hyde thing going on more so than the R.

That s why R costs 1/3rd a 918
half the 997 RS 4.0
1/10th 911 R ?
etc etc
but better.. hey is better!!!
even a 928 is better than a (better than R engine) GT3 touring!!!

come on, the R flippers *** is on fire!
and need some fresh water from paid jurnos

btw no one hate the R just laughing for decals overhyping and its weak non 9krpm engine

The 911R and GT4 are a great cars, and everybody is entitled to their own opinion on what they consider the best (and 6th best), but I don't see how any Porsche enthusiast can take this list seriously. More an act of desperation to stir controversy and interest in CAR than any meaningful order of significance.

Best Porsches of all time? Personally, I wouldn't put any 981/991 variant in the top 10, maybe not even the top 20.

Is there a list somewhere, where we can take seriously?
Even more how about a list of Porsches that are appreciating. This particular list must be around somewhere.

Wow! Same day and driver? What a difference! Same hp but a bit lighter yet that much slower?
