it's at number 16...
there are a few cars on the list that I would swap my R for, if I could keep my others, and also buy a close substitute like a Touring.

Not sure what sets the R apart from the Touring other than it is limited edition and it has a magnesium roof and houndstooth seats (if ordered - did not come standard). The Touring has a more refined engine and subtle improvements to the exterior (front and rear lights, for instance). The R also has the better looking rear vent, in my opinion. But for the R to be 15 spots ahead of the Touring on this list is a head scratcher to me. Sure, I'd love to have an R because of its exclusivity and it's R heritage but pound for pound, the Touring is easily comparable to the R and in one major category - the engine - it is better. Chris Harris thinks the 991.2 GT3 engine is better than the R's. For what it is worth, he bought a Touring.

well it's about a minute longer and it's in Belgium.
please don't compare fastest laps by unknown drivers - it's totally meaningless.
FWIW, a maxed-out R will lap Spa around the same time as a .1GT3 PDK, and around 2s slower than a .1RS.
i was talking about straight-line speeds being same in .2 Touring,

I have a Touring. If they were the same price, I would swap, but it’s not worth 2x a Touring to me so I guess I will make do with the 16th best Porsche!

If you could get one at MSRP a fantastic car. I currently own, a 991 turbo, a GT3MT and will have a '19RS to replace my '16 RS. So I am not a Porsche hater. IMO it's not a 350K car. 70K more than my 488 that IMO the R can't touch. YMMV. Most of its desirability is based on it's rarity. Otherwise known as marketing.

Regarding the magazine article, there is no way that 80lbs less and smfw make it 15 places better than the Touring. But that’s okay, it’s just their opinion. I could just as well pull some strings for a magazine to write the Touring is better than the R.
