Looks of 991.1 GT3 vs 991.2 GT3
Is it just me or is the 991.1 GT3 better looking than the 991.2 GT3? I find the changes made during the face lift to be almost Japanese looking—severe and random lines in the front replaced elegant lines that were more organically integrated into the architecture of the whole car, and the changes to the engine lid and spoiler, with the addition of bolt-on looking plastic scoops and black end caps to the spoiler, are just not as good looking.

It's just you. If you look at a car long enough the lines grow on you. That's why people like older ones when the new one is a step better. You won't be the last though.

Can't see the front end if you are driving. The engine in the 991.2 is so much better.

It's just you. Front bumper on a .1 looks like a happy face to me and a little dated now. The rear tail lights on the .2 looks much more modern too. I've liked every single facelift model more than the original. 996.2, 997.2 and 991.2.

I was the same at first when the gen 2 got introduced. Didn't like it at all in the pics. .1 was clearly better, more homogeneous. But then I saw it in the flesh. No contest. So much more aggressive ! Very happy with the change.

The .2 looks more aggressive and modern. The .1 looks great too, but you can tell it's an outgoing model. Also, I like all the black trim and scoops. Helps to break up the car a bit and give it more of that fighter jet aesthetic.

As expected, the 991.2 facelift brought greater surface tension and detailing which translates to a more sculpted and modern design.
This is similarly why many Porschephiles prefer 993 styling to that of the 964 and 997 styling to that of the 996.
Most exterior designers know where they want to go, but must evolve a design slowly based on the product’s lifecycle.
Sometimes technologies sush as composites and superforming also allow for shapes and details not previously possible.
For what it’s worth, to my eye the 991.1 styling was spot on and the 991.2 is simply a better resolved interpretation of that design.
