Looks of 991.1 GT3 vs 991.2 GT3

Burning Brakes
Since the discussion is about looks, I prefer the .1 for all the reasons already mentioned. I was never a fan of the overbite .2 front bumper. I also find the rear vent on the .1 to flow better withe lines of the car as opposed to the two separate vents that look like they were forgotten and added after the fact.....of course looks are subjective

The look of these cars are certainly subjective. Some prefer this or that about either. Both are beautiful and great driving cars. However, one cannot argue with the fact that 4.0 looks better than 3.8.

Three Wheelin'
Like both, but .2 has 3 cringe-worthy details - the matte black bits - the flips on the front air intake, the air scoops on the hood and the wing end plates. It is like Porsche went VW and was trying to save some money. Fortunately touring gets rid of 2 of those 3.

The .1 has a more classic and integrated design, not surprising since it was designed from the ground up. The .2 has a less integrated (ie slightly more after market) but more aggressive look. I prefer the .1, but really a matter of taste.

I'm in the process of sourcing a 991.1 GT3 and have spent more time looking at them than most (I suspect) For me the 991.2 looks a little bigger, the front PU is wider and more angular the same at the back. The larger and higher rear spoiler on the .2 with the higher rear vent also adds to the bigger car look at the back. You can also see the rear PU has a more exaggerated crease as well. For me it doesn't flow as well the wings and middle are more curve and less angular edge. The shark like nose and more angular lines of the .2 for me doesn't fit as well with the whole 991 shape and it looks somehow 'clumsier' side by side. The nose for me on the .1 is very special
Also .2's are set up a little higher as well from the factory
Both gorgeous though !
PS the 991.1 RS looks way too big for me

I think the best update to the range is the 970 to the 971. You might as well just say you prefer the looks of the .2 to the .1.

I wish they just upgraded the .1 mechanically and left it alone cosmetically. The rear air scoops on the .2 still rub me the wrong way. The .1 design, particularly the rear deck lid area, is perfection. Why mess with perfection? Chalk it up to Porsche trying a bit too hard in the design department on the 2. But this is splitting hairs as they both look superb.

Funny how divergent opinions are concerning the .1 and .2 GT3s. I always liked the GT3, but the front end of the .1 was a big turn off for me. I think it is an unnecessarily strange design for a performance car. The .2 front is just perfect and the integration of the running lights is a huge improvement. Door handles are a small thing, but Porsche really cleaned up the side of the car with the new doorhandles on the .2. The higher wing just looks more business like to me and I love the new taillights.
V200, my car gos to build in October, still can't decide between Miami and Carmine. I have a Carmine Red 3.8 GTS now and seems a bit boring to get another car in the same color, but I love the CR.
