Re lights. 997.2 curved rear lights instantly made .1 lights look dated. But now it's the other way round and the 997.2 lights look pretty bad. Wonder if the same will happen with 991!

Actually, I find the 997.1 rear lights to be more dated than the .2.

I also prefer the looks of the 991.1 -- especially the rear deck. The two black scoops on the new version look like something from the "dress up" aisle at Pep Boys in comparison. If the prices were closer I'd no doubt opt for the improved performance and just get used to them though. I could've bought either just couldn't justify the $65K extra the new one would've taken ... but that's me. The are no losers here.

Better motor > anything else

Once you drive the .2 you won't even trade that for an R

I'm in the process of sourcing a 991.1 GT3 and have spent more time looking at them than most (I suspect) For me the 991.2 looks a little bigger, the front PU is wider and more angular the same at the back. The larger and higher rear spoiler on the .2 with the higher rear vent also adds to the bigger car look at the back. You can also see the rear PU has a more exaggerated crease as well. For me it doesn't flow as well the wings and middle are more curve and less angular edge. The shark like nose and more angular lines of the .2 for me doesn't fit as well with the whole 991 shape and it looks somehow 'clumsier' side by side. The nose for me on the .1 is very special

Also .2's are set up a little higher as well from the factory

Both gorgeous though !

PS the 991.1 RS looks way too big for me

I think of all the .2's the 991.2 GT3 is the best update to the range. The .1 is a great car but prefer the front bumper, wing and tail lights on the .2

If I could graft the 4.0L into the 991.1 I'd have the best of both worlds (the 6MT, as great as it is, doesn't really entice me. For me, the PDK rules supreme for my application and needs!)

I have my dealer checking into whether the 991.1 GT3 nose could be retrofitted onto a 991.2 GT3. After 2 weeks of waiting, they still don't have an answer.

I much prefer the look of the .2. Especially in real life. The black vents and accents look great; nothing cheap looking about them. I agree Porsche really nailed the design with the 991 and the .2 takes it to another level. The engine is remarkable as is the manual.

hmmmm i dunno guys... i like my .1 looks better than the new .2... rear ends quite similar actually... but the front on the .1 is just more 'no-nonsense/race car looking' to my eye, whereas the .2 looks like a more 'styled' street car trying to look aggressive... overall, maybe its the wheels/canards on the .1 that makes the most impact (but i don't think so... i think it's the front bumper)

well to each their own

.1 looks better and I believe will age better, too. More organic and classic look, front end of .2 and 3D twilight treatment along with the black bits is trying too hard. That's all cosmetics though, what maters most is underneath and that clearly is an improvement. Feel the same way about the .2 RS at lest in pics. FWIW, I also prefer the looks of the 964 to 993 and 997.1 to 997.2 as well.
