The Track App sucks. You can connect to it via wifi but then can’t connect to your gopro because it is also wifi. So it has a feature for external cam but you can’t use it.

It costs more but again, not worth the savings to be frustrated at the track.

With a properly installed and prepared with all tracks, the VBox only takes plugging it into the cigarette lighter, you could even hardware so it records everything over 30MPH.
Including the dealer service guys taking it for test drives for example. It all comes out ready to go on an SD card.

You won't have an internet connection, the PCM does not provide internet unless you put a SIM in it for a hotspot. The app actually makes note that you have no internet connection and that's what it should be. The app does not need internet, just needs to talk to the PCM for to access/record the data stream.

I checked my app and everything comes up and is ready. I do have cellar data turned on for the app.

I agree I do not know what these ding dongs at Porsche are thinking.... very much like the external GPS.

I have an iPhone 7, possibly try another friends phone, or even a Samsung. I've had it work successfully on both, ignition must be on.
But I'm not using an iPhone 8 or X.

I continue to have frustration with this app. I tried again this morning on a custom track. It all started fine but then lost connection to the car 5 mins in. The wan WiFi connection stays but it loses connection with the car so video continues but no data. This happens every time are 4 to 6 mins in.

Harry's with external GPS and GoPro work a lot better than the Track App. Some people with Iphone 6's and 7's and older IOS' have had luck. Either way it is stupid for the app to allow external cam via wifi, but you can't connect because the phone needs to be connected to the car's wifi.
