Default First time GT3 owner question here...clutch chatter/grinding at idle?

Hey there -

Just picked up the gt3 and have driven minimal miles. However, I have a question. When the car is at idle, it makes a LOT of noise, and ones that aren't particularly flattering. It's a ton of clutch chatter and almost grinding type noises. Sounds really rough, quite frankly.

Now, when the car warms up to temp, it settles down a bit, but never completely goes away.

I assume this is normal activity for these cars, being that they're pretty raw mechanically?

I have a PDK, mind you.

Thanks for any and all feedback. It's just getting my attention as it's a noisy bugger!

I do remember being quite concerned when the car was new about the chatter of the pdk while running, especially when cold and at low speeds. It sounds like the transmission is trying to grind itself to death! It has abated some now that the car is over 2K miles, or with aggressive driving. I do not, however, believe it had a rattle or chatter at idle, then at 19 miles or now at 2K+ miles.

Mine makes some really weird mechanical noises when shifting gears after first starting it that seem to go away when it warms up.

Having seen these sorts of threads before, I've chalked it up to GT-normal.

My shifter also squeaks going into and out of 5th if there's a bit of right-ward pressure on it... which is pretty much any time you shift quickly into 5th. All works perfectly though.

Mechanical symphony..... flywheel chatter.... intake whoosh.... squealing brakes..... all the norm for real deal GT3/GT3RS cars.

If you complain..... go buy a Lexus.

Call me weird, but I kinda think it sounds cool (I always picture a rusty coffee can full of nails been shaken around)... let's you know this isn't your grandfather's Oldsmobile...the GT3 is special. I guess it's the same reason I like vintage cars and don't mind not having syncros, etc., and square-cut gears...don't even get me started on square-cut gears...

Porsche can easily make those noises go away but they don't. They even enhance them. Part of the GT3 experience.
