Now, boutique BBQ is worth the wait and hassle. But, thing is, Rudy's and a couple others, are solid 'in a pinch' choices that are better than anything I've had in CA. And you don't have line up 10 hours before or pay some poor college student to do so or know the secret handshake or whatever. I swear it's easier to get into the hottest LA restaurants than to get great BBQ sometimes...
So it's about context.
And I WELCOME a trip to the corkscrew, never been, but frequent franklins and la bbq whenever I can while in Austin.
Now on Mexican, remember, we live in SoCal. This is where Mexican is real :-) I mean, queso? What is THAT!?!?!
Ok, so a food tour. BBQ and TexMex.
let's do it Martin!
What about Bludso's brisket on N La Brea?

john W and billy, if you ever get out to SF, you need to eat with mike. no one knows how to eat like mike does. foodie is an insult to him. more like food god. and he gets drunk, so he will pay the bill. mike, dinner saturday right?

+1 for PNH quality

Bought my .1 gt3 a year ago from PNH. Couldn't get a .2 allocation unfortunately but will likely pick one up used. In additional to the sales team, the service department at PNH is excellent. They even did my track alignment a few weeks ago. Nice amenities and great people working there.

It's like eating In-N-Out in TX. Not the same :-) Decent, but, not Texas BBQ! Besides, Bludsoes went "upscale" they originally opened in Compton around 2008,and it was like OMG the dude has a trailer smoker out back doing some legit backyard type meat. Now he's on La Brea... see my point?

Best BBQ I ever had in Texas was years ago, was running a project for the prison system in Huntsville TX and there is nothing in that town except the university, the largest statue of sam houston or anything anything next to the statue of liberty I've ever seen, and the prison system. Old sparky has a museum. I swear I saw a scene from dazed and confused play out right in front of me after a waitress dropped a bag of ice in our pitcher of beer at a bar. The vegetarian from CA I had running the project literally ate Quiznos every day for all meals. We got very odd looks when at a Mexican restaurant and he asked for Fajitas, no meat. Or when I asked for some fruit with my breakfast LOL. Silly CA folks!

Anyway, there was a guy in the town "center" area that had a classic old colonial type house with a few huge trees out front, a double axle trailer smoker parked on the lawn, and a tarp tied between those trees with some picnic tables under it. At lunch he would 'open' for BBQ. Damn that was good stuff.

If you go into The Woodlands there are some nice restaurants. I like Jasper's in The Woodlands Market Street area when I lived around the corner for a finer BBQ experience.

reviving the thread....
bought bunch cars from bunch dealers.
some cars missing some "gifts" from our much beloved but also loathed manufacturer : PAG
I know many many dealers and I called bunch dealers to help get me the "gift" that was supposed to come with my car...
only one dealer responded : PNH
only one dealer succeeded : PNH
many dealers sell cars
few dealers sell msrp car
almost no dealer can get their sh*t together with after sales service

Forget Texas bbq. You want the best bbq ribs? Look no further (ahem) at Naughty Nuri’s In Phuket, Thailand.
