2015 GT3 Engine Misfire and blows huge plumes of smoke occasionally

In our meeting with PAG they confirmed that the G engines are not immune. E, F or G can experience this issue.

Mine also belches a big cloud of smoke every once in a while; and I mean big...
I emailed Porsche Canada about the engine issue and the 10yr warranty that came about of the meeting between fellow Rennlisters and PCNA, they never responded; I'll email them again...
So... I'm going to drive the crap out of the car, enjoy every redline shift and track as much as possible. When the engine goes, I'll get another brand new one: nothing wrong with that.

Thank you so much for this information Rob. Very much appreciated. I picked up my GT3 yesterday from the dealer. It had misfired on multiple cylinders while they had it yet they still say there is nothing wrong with the car and it just had bad spark plugs. Hmmm.

I have 2, 15 gt3's one has the original engine and still smokes like crazy every once in awhile. The other one has a new engine and never smokes, both cars see heavy track use.

Thanks for this information! How many miles does the one that smokes like crazy have? How often do you see the plumes of smoke? Thanks again for the information and for any details you can share!

My 15 had about 12000 miles on it when I got rid of it. Same issue with smoke. Never knew when it would blow a cloud. My neighbor ran into my garage once right after I started it. He thought the garage was on fire.

My '16 GT3 is awaiting a new mill as I type. I am proof that the Gs are not immune to the cam/finger-follower wear issue. The car has just shy of 12k on the clock. The car has NEVER smoked and always ran strong. Porsche is taking care of it but after having the PDK replaced as well it places concern in the back of my mind.

For those of you who’ve had your engine replaced, did it fully fail (break down, side of road, leave you stranded, tow truck fail), or did it just start misfiring at high rpms but allow you to drive on to the dealership to get your new engine?
