Track wheels, tyres and wing

Thanks.
Ive upgraded to the GT3.2RS spring rates.
More down force is better. I’ve not seen a bigger splitter but the canards just glue on so that’s easy.
I don’t have them on the RS but they should help a little.
Most front grip comes from open front fenders (on RS) and dropping the nose on the ground with 19”.

I am going to see what happens to lap times with the 19's and a proper setup.
Then we will see if any further adjustments are necessary.
One setup detail I'm not sure about is the anti-roll (sway) bar settings.
What has been your experience?
What do you prefer and why?

Hi all,
I’m adding to this thread from April as I thought that a few of you may be interested in my progress on the updates I had planned.
The mods prior to my original post included the following:
1. BBi Seat Base and Slider Kit with Cobra Suzuka Pro (removed passenger seat)
2. Akrapovic Raceline Exhaust System
Mods post my OP:
1. APR Performance GTC-500 Wing
2. Pirelli Trofeo R (I like their more progressive nature over the MPSC2’s)
3. BBi Street Cup Suspension Package
I have managed to drop my times from the mid 19’s to an 18.06.
As I made the changes 1 at a time, I can report that the biggest improvement so far has been the wing. Now I can see out of the rear view mirror as well!
The suspension package needs setup time as it was rushed a bit before the last track day so I will try that with new Trofeo R’s next as the 18.0 was achieved on tyres that were well past their best.
I have ordered the Forgeline GS1R 19” wheels and Hoosier R7’s. They arrive next week. This will be very interesting.
I am hoping that this will give me another second and put me into the low 17’s, maybe even 16’s.
Here’s a couple of pics from the last event.
Cheers,
Lawrence

Does anyone know i the GTC500 Wing (on a 991 GT3) sits higher than the car roofline?
Typical rules for motorsport in australia state:
"No part of the wing assembly shall be higher than a horizontal line drawn from the highest point of the roof."

The highest point of the wing is the top of the end plate which sits around 20mm lower than the highest point of the roof.
There is another 7mm drop to the tip of the main wing plane.

fantastic thanks for that.
does anyone know if these wings have been fitted to 991.2 GT3-- just wondering if there is any possibility of the aero/wing arrangement could interfere with the ram air intakes or visa versa

The 991.1 also has an air intake in the rear deck lid, it’s just a different shape.

Hi guys,
An update on my progress with my track build.
As you may recall I had lowered my PB at our local track to a 1:18 on the OEM rims and Trofeo R’s.
The next mod was Forgeline 19’s with Hoosier R7’s.
I was expecting to lower my times into the 17’s, hoping for 16’s.
Well my best lap of the day was a 15:8! Fastest Porsche time of the day despite Cup car competition!
There is definitely more time to find with tweaks to the setup.
I have some questions for everyone with experience on the Hoosier R7’s.
Best lap was achieved on lap 2 when tyre pressures were only up to around 32psi.
Hoosier and others recommend much higher pressures of around 40psi?
Any thoughts on this?
Yes I’ve ordered a pyrometer!
Cheers

Cool!
Some of that lap time comes from lower center of gravity also Specially the nose on the ground.
In the summer its 90F+ here, so I go out 20F and 23R, I have to take 2 slow laps to get them to 26-28PSI and then they are fastest for two laps.
After 3-4 laps they overheat if you push hard.
Best grip comes form 29F and 30R but others here have set that the low PSI contributes to cooking the tires and going off and even climb higher in PSI.
Keep in mind, its swamp country here with 95% humidity.
Anything over 35 is too high for sure

Thanks TRAKCAR, your experience gels with my initial thoughts.
I also experienced the issue that if you start too low with the pressures they just keep climbing until you have to back off.
Problem with that is one of the classes I run in is an actual race and I can’t slow down!!
The sizes I have are 265/35/19 and 325/30/19.
I was pleased to note no rubbing.
Should I go wider on the next set?
Pyrometer will be very interesting and will help me dial in the setup.

Most tire mfgs recommend pressures that are too high because it reduces their liability.
Great to see you going with Forgelines, they make great wheels. If you weren't going with a company so active in Motorsports, or going with larger brand that does but sells less racing-focused "street" wheels, I would have highly urged you to read the concepts from this article (not just that carbon is good, but the concepts of weight vs stiffness -that applies to ALL wheels):
