New York International Auto Show Report
To all
I attended the Porsche press day event at the NY International Auto show today before the show officially opens tomorrow. I will continue to post pics and comments on other brands I observed, but wanted to start with Porsche. Special Thanks go out to Icutyou for providing me an extra ticket for a family member. Notes as follows:
1) Treated wonderfully by Porsche. Very cordial, well done, nice breakfast, no complaints at all about their staff.
2) Premier of GT3 RS, A little disappointed that due to that no GT2 RS was on display.
3) Really sold attributes of the 911T in their presentation, It was the other featured car.
4) This board has most all the knowledge collectively about the deep questions . For example, I have a GT3 Touring PTS that was struck by the great PTS disaster of early 2018. Don't know now if PTS will or will not happen, my guess is it will not. I was told nobody knows if a window will open for GT3's this fall, and that may be the truth.
5) a few interesting things I did learn during the presentation. First, BBS cannot keep up with magnesium wheels, which I think many knew. It was stated that magnesium wheels will not be available on the first GT3 RS that are produced. All available wheel production will go to the GT2 RS, and when they are sure all GT2 RS is covered, then the wheels will be available for the GT3 RS. They stated that when the dust settles between 85% and 95% of all Gt2 RS will be Weissach package cars.
6) Second, weather has not permitted a ring run for the GT3 RS as yet. They said target time is 7:05 and they believe they can hit it or beat it slightly.
7) You will see a pic of a 356 above. Great story about the owner Hank Kramer and the car. Never cry at auto shows, but this one was tough.
I have more pics and stories to sort through and am going back tomorrow, so I will keep posting.

Some other images from the show, the most interesting of these to me was the Mini-cooper GP concept car. I did not care for the aesthetics of the Corvette near as much as my Grand Sport. The Grand Sport is a very visually pleasing car. The ZR1 has a lot going on, seems very busy, a lot of angles that don't seem to end well. IMHO only.

Great pics! Loved that mini as well. And you're very welcome on the ticket I'm glad it worked out for you. I ended up going to the preview event yesterday so I'm glad I didn't miss out completely!
Make sure you check out the classics right after you cross the ticket area as well.

I was there last night as well. The one question that no one could answer was where the external antenna was for the GPS on the GT3RS. Of course the roof is CF but there was no wart on the back trunk or anywhere visible to anyone looking. The car did have GPS, so it was not a SAT/NAV delete which is the only way I understand that the wart remains off the cars. Is this a new 2019 thing? Or is this being omitted for the show only? I was also surprised that the Weissach Edition did not have more CF parts and that standard brakes were fitted to the RS. It looks great in person!

It was down below on the mezzanine immediately after you enter show between upper and lower levels. Three other Porsches (blue Panny, red Targa GTS and red Boxster) were there as well. It was part of private event on Thursday evening so if you don't see them today I'd assume they're back in the Porsche booth.

If anybody gets the chance would they be willing to ask about the GT4CS, the new one coming out for next season.
