1st time at drag. 991.2 GT3. LC issues
I’m a circuit guy and have never been to a drag before but I thought it’d be fun to take it out. I read all the threads on LC but I still had trouble with launch control.
Track allignment: not sure on exact specs but -3 degree camber all around
Trofeo R
Half tank fuel
PDK Sport
Auto
TC and ESC on
No burnout , 45 mins between each run
Track temp 26 Celsius
Launch control set up: Firm pressure brakes, throttle to floor, ‘launch control enabled’ on dash, sidestep brakes.
1st run: car seems to bog just a little but launch control worked. 11.427 @ 124.2
2nd run: same set up but once I released the brakes the car took off for just a split second with tyres spinning then car just stopped and I think the screen said Launch Control Disabled or something along those lines.
3rd run: same as 2nd run.
I’ll try to load video of the bad starts.
Any ideas what I did wrong?

Three Wheelin'
Shut car off and restart, try again. System will reset. Also, If you are hesitant even a pinch of movement on pedals the system doesn’t respond well. It’s a full commitment or bust type deal.

I think what might have happened was you held LC for too long. You can’t sit at the tree with LC going for more than a few seconds. If you do it shuts down. I try to time it so i start LC when the first light shows. Or i anticipate and start a few seconds after both cars are staged.

Next time drive around the water box, do 2 LC's dry to get the tire heat up a bit, and then go for it. Seems like your LC was working fine but as soon as you loose traction it will kill power and you might as well abort the run. Run it with all the nannies turned off and it won't kill power and she should hook. LC will stay on longer than most people think, check video # one of my buddies RS(10.62@132) and the second video is my old 16 .1 which ran a 10.93@127.

robmypro: Thanks for tip, I'll keep that in mind.
RobbieRob: wow that's a quick time! What you're saying makes sense. Thanks.
gago1101: I was more than happy with that time for a first go. Great car.

Took my 2017 GTS to the drag strip last week. It’s was cold in the 50’s and the track was slick...got lots of wheel spin on the stock PZero tires but pulled off a 11.5 at 124mph.
If if I would have hooked up better by lowering tire pressure and sticky tires.. had empty fuel tank...I was full...I was told by some drag guys the car would do a 11- 11.2 easy

A couple more tips.
1. Your tires will cool down between runs. You need to get heat into them by using the water box. Get them warm.
2. Drop the pressure in your rear tires. Drop a few psi and try again.
Ultimately the track conditions are very dynamic, and your car reacts to that. To get consistently good times, your routine needs to be consistent. Drop tire pressure, get tires warm, how you launch car, etc. As the track conditions change you need to make adjustments. Getting cooler? Hit that water box harder. Take a little more pressure out.
Most of all, just have fun.

Burning Brakes
My 16 RS only activates LC with the TC/ESC on. If I turn the ESC-OFF, it doesn't display the "LC Activated", holds the RPM steady at 6k rpm and takes off with excessive tire burning.
My 15 Turbo S activates LC regardless of PSM on/off, chassis sport/normal.
No idea what's wrong with my RS.
