would you do 50K over for an RS around December, with a customizable order?

EVEN IF .2 RS was 4.2L making 540bhp, it's a maybe. When it's a tweaked same 4L engine in GT3, I don't see the need.
In the end, it's just a car. Just drop the mentality of "I have to have it" and clairvoyance will hit you.

There is just not enough performance difference in the new 3 and the new RS, as many have stated. Some people will pay the huge
ADMs for these cars but they probably wont drive them. Like someone else said be patient and see what shakes out for you later.
Make them come back to you with a better offer and most of all-Good luck to you!

Non-refundable is where you lost me. No way would I pay a non-refundable deposit and be at the mercy of the dealership.
If you're paying a set $50k ADM then that's one thing, but a variable one where you don't get your money back? At that point you're asking to be bent over and destroyed.

Buy a .1 RS - - take the extra saved cash to vegas for a great weekend

There isn't much to add to what's already been mentioned, but here's my take:
I, personally, would not touch such an arrangement with a ten-foot pole. If, however, you have seriously considered paying $50K ADM, have your lawyer draft a binding transferable contract with a hefty penalty should the dealer fails to deliver. This should naturally include all the options you select.
I can almost guarantee you that your dealer will shy away from any legally binding agreements which would only confirm what other members advised on previous posts.

No. Not one dollar over MSRP.
Advice: buy a nice 997.2 GT3 RS yet and add a 991.2 GT3 RS in 2 years.
Thank me later;-)

I wouldn't do it, but I guess that the amount is relative to your own financial situation. Hell, I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum and am considering purchasing a used 991.1 GT3 for around $120,000. I don't think that I can justify spending an additional $50,000 on basically the same car, although I really want a manual. Is a manual worth $50,000 to me? No. Is 25 additional hp worth $50,000 to me? No. I'll get 98% of the same happiness with the 991.1 over the 991.2 and that's just what it is.
But to each's own. I wouldn't criticize you if you did it. It's all about what makes you happy and what you can personally justify within your own mind and heart. I just don't have it like that.

^ I think the RS could be worth the 40,000 premium over the GT3 if you like all the styling cues the RS offers and some performance gains.. But- it ain't worth $90,000 more if you add the 50,000 ADM. Every one can burn money if they have the means but the OP did start this thread

If I had unlimited money I would get a .1 RS painted in GR and have a manual transmission from the R installed from that spot in Florida that did another member's .1's RS manual swap. I already looked into this and the car, paint job and transmission swap would cost me around $280,000. I actually like the styling of the .1 over the .2. The front looks meaner. One day... one day.
