Default anyone use Octane booster in their 991.2 GT3?

Those of us in CA are forced to buy 91 Octane gas and in the manual there is a suggestion that one can use an Octane booster to avoid possible knocking etc . Porsche actually sells an Octane Booster:
Porsche Part number: 000 043 209 89. I was wondering whether anyone from a 91 Octane state has used this or any other Octane booster and did it improve their performance .

Hmm... interesting. I didn't know Porsche sold an octane booster.

I just try to fill up 100 at the track and wherever I can.

Im not in CA and never used octane boosters, but I did tune and ran my 997.2 GT3 to run on E85 (100-105 octane depending on the seasonal blend). It was great. No issues, cooler engine temp at the track, cheaper fuel, and more power. Always wondered if anyone tried E85 on a 991 GT3...

Never used octane boost either but ther are several places in SD that have 100 octane fuel available. I generally mix with the 91 and my GT3 and Turbo S run beautifully!

The only place I know of is in Rancho Sante Fe. Can you point me to others? My goal is to get the Octane up to 93 which is what the car seems optimized for.

In addition to RSF Mobil:
VP Racing/Crown Point Gas - in PB
Ochs Oil Co - in Vista
I’ve heard a station in El Cajon has 100 as well, but not sure where.

I'm in the same boat here in SF. 91 is what most places have. But there are a few stations in the greater Bay Area that sell 96, 100, etc. But I would need to drive two hours just to fill up with that. By the time I get back home from the pump, I'd need to fill up again!

I've thought about maybe buying some containers to fill up with 100 octane and then throw in a few gallons of that every time I fill up. But that seems like a real pain.

This is a great thread, as I've wondered the same thing. My touring pings briefly when getting into the gas a bit aggressively between 2,000 & 3,000 RPM. I find it very annoying. I've been thinking of blending in some 100 octane, but would be a bit of a pain. An octane booster would be easier.

Is anyone else experiencing brief pinging on 91 octane?

Any chances any of those gas stations are in the South Bay?

I have personal experience with the Redwood City 76 station. The 101 racing unleaded really make the engine hum.

Sandiego, I think that part number is for a Porsche brand fuel system cleaner. Real and effective octane booster is very expensive stuff. That part number sells for only $10.95 retail from a Porsche dealer parts department. Here in Vancouver, 94 octane gasoline is widely available.

That would make more sense. Octane boosters in general are snake oil, yielding only around .1 - .3 of a point boost in octane rating. 101/100 octane racing unleaded is the better route to increasing octane if you are limited to 91 octane pump gas.

Quick Reply: anyone use Octane booster in their 991.2 GT3?
