Almost all 100 octane is unleaded so it is ok. All Supercars are tuned for 93 so yes , timing is pulled for lower. Not all 91 is the same. Cali gas sold there and in AZ is terrible so I have run Torco for years. I now use Boostane because it mixes better and stay mixed . Boostane Professional , the mix is 10 oz per 14 gallons ............and I never see detonation......
It will leave an orange tint on your spark plugs and shorten their life but racers have used this for many years with no internal side effects...

Ah, but the key word is 'Almost' While this particular (Pilot) station I got the 100 octane Racing Fuel at also had a sticker stating it contained LEAD. My stupid mistake.

Sorry about that. Our local racetrack has both Leaded and Unleaded race fuel pumps next to each other and I can see how someone could make a similar mistake.

Thanks for the input, maybe I got lucky?? Went back to station, Loves, not Pilot and they sell both 110 octane leaded and 100 octane unleaded or that is what their site says?? Hopefully the 100 octane I purchased was unleaded!!

Was dropping off a rental car today and found another 76 with 100 octane gas in the south bay - 3010 Almaden Expy, San Jose CA 95118 (corner of Almaden and Foxworthy). Just around the corner from the car dealerships on Capitol Expy.

Decided not to refill the rental with the good stuff though

Conveniently located on your way up to Skyline if your coming from the South Bay. I put in 1/4 tank with 3/4 left of 91.

maybe I should start a thread with “Rennlist verified” pumped 100 octane locations

Wow, the 100 octane at the 76 station on Woodside Road in Redwood City is quite a bit less at $7.75/gallon.

The 100 octane sold by stations here in the Bay Area differs. You have to ask what brand/product they carry. Most of the 76 stations use Sunoco. But Sunoco offers 260GT and SS100 for 100 octane gas. 260GT has a metallic additive and SS100 does not. I've found that most gas station attendants have no idea what the actual gas product they're offering is. I found one station that looked it up and it was 260GT which is illegal in California. And if you look in the GT3 car manual, it says not to use gas with metallic additives. Not sure why though.

So before you fill up with 100 octane, make sure it is NOT 260GT...

I'm curious why people are adding a bit of 100 octane. Is it for performance, or are you experiencing detonation (pinging)? I add approximately 5 gallons of 100 octane on each fill up (large tank), as I get pinging at lower RPM's on initial tip in of the throttle. Adding the 100 octane eliminates the pinging. If I'm getting a boost in power, it's minimal.

Most high performance cars are base line tuned for 93 Octane. They de-tune with 91.
The best Octane booster is Boostane professional. 4 oz into 10 gallons converts 91 to 93.

It's not about a "boost" in power. It's about preventing power loss.
GT3 is tuned from factory for 93 octane. When you run 91, the engine gets detuned by the ECU to prevent pre-detonation. This reduces power. When you add a bit of 100 + 91, you can get the resulting mix back up to 93 so the car doesn't pull timing and reduce power.

And if you're actually getting pinging/detonation/knock on 91... something is wrong with your car. And if your car does experience pre-detonation, you would get a check engine light.

I'd be happy to show you what my car is experiencing, which I believe is pinging/detonation/knock. The fact that it goes away with added octane is pretty telling. I may not be getting a check engine light, because it's so brief. I asked my selling dealer about it and they just shrugged it off as normal on 91 octane.

Interesting. Yeah, I'd like to check it out. And then you can check out the clack noise I was talking about in the other thread haha! Is this what GT car ownership is like, comparing weird noises the cars make?

it was $8.99 today. Didn’t notice it said 101 vs 100 at the Saratoga one I’d been too
