Default 991.2 GT3 Cup2 N1 Spec - Puncture prone?

Hey guys,

I just collected my 991.2 GT3 couple days ago and my car came with the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 N1 spec tires. I just had a huge puncture today from a metal object measuring about 0.5 inch x 2 inches. It's a thin piece of metal. Air was gushing out of my driver's side rear tires, pressure was dropping at a rate of 0.4bar per minute. I had to make 3 pitstops to inflate at gas stations before I could reach the nearest tire shop. Over the last 2 years, I've had the GT4, 911R and GT3RS and none of them have had a tire puncture before. It could be pure bad luck, but I've discovered that 2 of my friends who had taken delivery of their 991.2 GT3s some months ago with N1 spec Cup2s also had a big puncture incident. This could all be a coincidence but could it be that the N1 Spec Cup2 tires be more prone to puncture?

Can anyone else with puncture incidents step up and share your experiences?

Probably just bad luck. I had multiple punctures with the N0 (GT4 and GT3) from screws, nails, stables. I have a set of N1s in the garage about to mount on a .1 GT3. Tread pattern and dimensions look identical. I asked Tirerack what is different from N0 to N1 but didn't get a conclusive answer. Presume the compound is slightly different. Doubt that in itself would lead to more punctures.

I think you hit some bad luck....wide tires and soft compound are bad combo for potential punctures but regardless of formulation difference there’s no way it would have made enough of difference to change outcome.

After about 500 track miles on the N1's it feels like I am getting better grip at 32psi hot. The N0's on my .1 ran the best at 30psi hot.

I've been able to find homes for nails on three sets of N0 PSC2s.

Always on passenger rear.

911 rear tires (Michelin and Pirelli) are I believe "debris magnets" - if there is something on the roadway that could puncture a tire, odds are, a 911 rear wheel will pick it up...

Had a chat with the Michelin rep at the 12 Hour recently asked if ok to
Go new n1 with keeping n0. Rear he said N/P , he said slightly different compound blend across tire he wasn't to specific as maybe was pulling straws
