I had a sneaking suspicion when I saw the GR touring after you posted your photo shoot that this was your car.

For the price of a 911 R I could get a 991.2 RS and a 991.2 GT3 touring. Easy decision to me. Throw an exhaust on the GT3T and you'll forget about the little noises the 911r makes. Also the 991.2 GT3 engine has a lot more torque.

Great video. The subtle differences are what makes these cars special.

Here is a short recording of my car idling after a long canyon run. All those ticks, rattling and other noises are just music to my ears

The 911R is indeed louder inside, with many more "911" sounds.. including wheel wells, transmission, all kinds. but I can't tell a difference with suspension and shifter like these guys say, maybe I'm not sensitive enough or maybe these reviewers are influenced by what they want to feel? With the engine there is a big difference for sure

R has nothing magic but the .1RS engine and less sound deadening

any dumb removing sound deadening and centre or side mufflers exhaust can make any flat6 any music you like

you don t need any RnD to do that

whilst you need it to rev 9k rpm

I did completely lose respect for the reviewer when he said the shifter was different; he's gotta mean the lwfw but as a guy that does this for a living, he seemed heavily influenced by what he wanted to feel. I get the suspension, rws, sound deadening, steering and engine differences; and that's a lot. He just lost respect when he claimed the gear box was different (which is not). And I can't remember if it was this guy or the other link, but one of them thought it felt like gearing was different too. Again, come on, if you do this for a living, have your facts straight before you get in the car.

You guys are being overly judgemental of somebody you don't know. Lee is good guy and as the editor of Total911 magazine he probably knows more about Porsche than most people combined on this forum. Porsche is his living. He is not claiming the gearbox is different, just the feel of the gear change which he felt was lighter.

The R is obviously a few years older than the 3 but I don't know how much use it has seen. Could it just be the newness that makes the 3 shift feel stiffer?
