Talked to Suncoast. They think the ashtray retrofit for the .2 comes with the harness, even though it's cheaper than the .1 ashtray (which also requires a separate harness). At this time there's no way to add an outlet under the armrest nor in the glovebox.
I ordered one of the ashtray retrofits and will post more when it arrives.

Doubt it comes with the harness. It's Porsche. Nothing is easy and never less $$.
Why can't they crack a box open and check?? Like it's that hard. Call Ryan there and tell him to get on it.
Maybe they stock them? Or they can check when it arrives.

I spent some quality time with 991.2's with smoking packages - and now find the lack of 12 volt adapter's concerning.
We've gone from 4 possible 12 volt adapters to 2:
991.1 previous
1 - 12 volt in the center console
1 - 12 volt in the "smokers package" tray
1 - 12 volt in the glove box
1 - 12 volt in the passenger foot well
991.2 current
1 - USB port in the center console
1 - 12 vold in the smoker's package
1 - USB port in the glove box
1 - 12 volt in the passenger foot well
there is a subtle problem with this which I learned ... you can no longer power a GoPro from the USB ports - oh it will charge the GoPro- but because the USB ports are data and not just power - the GoPro senses the USB host and goes into USB "host" mode waiting fo the 991.2 PCM system to "mount" the GoPro file system - you CAN NOT record video with a GoPro plugged into a 991.2 USB port - you can charge it - but you can't use it...
personally I'm going to miss the 4 12 volt ports and find 2 barely sufficient for a track toy when you have video, data loggers, GPS's and phone to power...oh well I'll suffer, but the new design is a step backwards on flexibility.

So, I am not happy with Porsche right now. What a major PITA.
First pics are the ash tray and harness that was shipped with it from Suncoast.
When I get this finished, I will post a DIY for how to get the console aparts along with better pictures. I will say this -- getting the carbon fiber console trim piece lifted up is really hard. I was afraid I was going to break it.
I am not going to try and remove the existing harness to use the replacement that Suncoast sent. It would mean lot of invasive work and I would likely end up breaking something.
I'm going to tap into the wires that go to the footwell outlet and run a pair of wires under the console back to the new ashtray outlet.
Can anyone help with ideas on how to source the three pin connector? Part number appears to be 999.604.40 or 999.004.40 but neither of these show up anywhere in PET or online.
Worst case is that I cut a connector off of the new harness but that seems wasteful.

Three Wheelin'
I’ve seen it all now.....complaints about smokers package number of outlets? As many have said I guess the GT3 is now just a regular everyday 911 for the masses. Certainly has changed buyer demographics since the first versions.
I am relieved though, I was told if I specced mine with smokers package it would be worth more and I’m only concerned about future value ha ha ha ha
