agree 100%... proper warm up always. Allow & feel all components to bed-in: tires, brakes, shift linkage/trans, chassis, etc... just common sense. A chassis alignment after first 1-2 K miles a good idea. Vary the engine rpm & load for several hundred miles. Break-in process done. Change oil & filter.

I followed the procedure to a tee with my Boxster and that car was flawless the entire time I owned it. One thing I'll note is that keeping the revs under 4k doesn't mean babying the car. Once mine was warmed up, I'd drive it as hard as one could imagine while keeping it under that limit. Plenty of full-throttle action, just with short shifting.

Not much similarity between a Mezger GT3 and a 9A1 motor, so I'm not sure it's a fair comparison. Track break-in could be great, but I don't think you can draw any conclusions from your experiences above.

So how do you account for the high copper in the 10 GT3. All 3 engines on the same factory fill. Bearings vs. rods and cranks with the same oil. GT4 right up to 7k out of the box. GT3s held below 4k for 2000 mi. A problem with the 10 GT3 early on it's life with the high Cu. My conclusion is stacking errors between mechanical assembly and parts geometry. Sometimes they hit the sweet spot. Sometimes not as in the case of the 10 GT3.

However you do it I always get get the oil up to temperature before any med to hard aceleration.

I don't know, but there's not enough info here to know whether break-in procedure played any role. All 3 of your motors are too different...
