never seen that around here, that would make a lot of sense.

Yeah I feel terrible for the owner, can't believe this happened while on the lot at the dealership

A lot of people joking around here (as it is kind of unbelievable really) but if this was your car you would not be happy...

Interesting. Is this a GT3 thing, or do all new 911s have this? Thank you.

My understanding is that PCNA can find the car in minutes, unless the Nav / GPS unit is removed.

This kind of technology should help car insurance rates on these models drop?

Doubtful.....not sure of exact statistics but a stolen car most often ends up gone or totaled....Anyone stealing these high end vehicles aren't doing so for a joy ride.....they're gone and on a shipping container fairly quickly....a professional knows what to do so the car can't be located.....they likely cased the dealer and knew exactly where the keys were.....

I wonder whose insurance pays for the stolen car? I would imagine the dealership's as the new owner likely had not gotten the car yet. I would imagine there will be some changes in store at Porsche dealerships nationwide to prevent this from happening again. I would also imagine that Porsche will be building another car for the unfortunate buyer.

This has been happening to dealers nationwide for a while. Nothing new. Especially with cars in the service dept. Overnight break ins.

It does help the insurance rates, but the comprehensive coverage is not what makes the rates high for these cars. My Wawanesa insurance yearly rate is $1350, out of which only $290 is for the comprehensive coverage with $100 deductible. Collision coverage is what makes rates higher in general.
