Default CL track torque

I seem to remember that the 997 CLs were supposed to be torqued to 600 ft. lbs. for track work but I can't find any similar spec for the 991. Am I just imagining this or is there such a spec? TIA

991 is 443ft lbs.

Though, if you track/change your wheels frequently, 410 ft. lbs is plenty.

Best Regards,
Dave

you remember 600
but it's newton meters , 600 nm of torque = 442..54 foot lbs.
I set wrench to 450 ft lbs , remember wheel needs to be unloaded , not carrying car weight !!
manual states to tighten to torque , then back off a 1/4 turn and then re-torque to click ,
then drop that corner off the jack

info/procedure is in your manual

I'm familiar with the standard procedure for street use and know the difference between ft./lbs. and Nm. There was a TSB from Porsche back in 2010 that recommended higher torque for vehicles used on the track and that the customer should be advised before using the car on the track. I know the 991 CL is not the same design and I'm wanting to know if there is any information from Porsche regarding the spec for use on the track for this version.

check your manuals, there's a mini manual guide for track use.

funny I do not recall there being a different torque spec for street and track on the 7.2's ... I recall they changed the spec to 600nm (and the CL nuts along with it) around the time they also recalled the cars to replace the rear hubs did they not?

There was a spec for the 997 CL's which specified a higher torque for track applications (see below under "Information"). Unfortunately, I only have the first page of the TSB from 2010 which describes additional procedures for lubricating the CL's and the uprated torque spec itself is missing.

For the 991 CL's, the workshop manual does not specify an increased torque spec for track use. Also, the race circuit addendum that came with my car calls out specific requirements for maintenance, tire pressure, and other items but there is no mention of increased CL torque settings. FWIW.

I think they came out with that recommendation after a few cars had wheels fall off.
They claim it's a better design now. Still 5 > 1.

For other than tracking, the 997 CLs required 349 ft lbs.

Then at 442 ft/lbs the torque requirement for the 991 CL's is already much higher than the 997's street spec. In combination with the other improvements to the 991 CL wheels, bearings, and hubs, I suspect that the 991's standard spec is appropriate for both the street and track.
