No lift shift in MT 991.2 GT3

I knew the cars have had rev matching for a while but I am surprised I didn't read about this in any of the marketing materials. I tried this once on a colleagues C7 and it was......interesting. While I am sure it's faster my brain couldn't wrap around the idea of not lifting throttle. I'm sure it's something you'd get used to if you used it.

The autoblip and now this; it's remarkable how much the car does to protect itself from a bad manual driver.

Thanks for posting - those upshifts for sure look fast

I have to admit I basically always use the revmatch. I didn't think I would but I just like it. I can't really put a finger on it. Now I turn it off to feel special lol.

will this cause any premature wear? didn't know this was an added feature to the .2

No additional wear (probably less wear). Launch control might cause some wear on some of the parts, but not Rev-Match or No/Lift shifting...

It's slowly morphing into PDK. . .

CAlexio 03-11-2018 09:24 PM

Really fun to do too, and much smoother when accelerating hard.. and MUCH faster. No brainer for sure. Also makes a really cool "whoomp" sound on upchange when you flatshift, almost like full throttle pdk sound

Manual, lol.

midwestamv8 03-12-2018 01:02 AM

btw.... partial throttle (50-75%) no-lift shifts create a kind of race car crack and pop on clutch in / clutch out when RPM's are high enough (say, over 4k). Didn't notice it until I got my Sharkwerks on w/ the valves disconnected, but it sounds friggin amazing!! My new favorite thing to do - partial throttle no-lift mid-rpm shifts. Hnnnnnnng!

usctrojanGT3 03-12-2018 02:39 AM

Wait....so you have your foot on the gas then put in the clutch and shift up?

evilfij 03-12-2018 02:43 AM

Yes.

Computer sees you depressed the clutch, cuts power, when you release clutch, it rev matches if you are in sport.

Oh man, I gotta try that. I'm such a noob. haha I put 70 miles on the car since I got the car this weekend, loving the manual.

montoya 03-12-2018 03:09 AM

Same feature in my Vette, but I've been afraid to try it! Also in the ZL1 Camaro too.

gago1101 03-12-2018 03:16 AM

It works, but you guys be careful. I have now tried this many times in my car under different circumstances. Not sure if this is limited to my car, but when doing a flat-shift from 1st to 2nd gear, the computer misses it 50% of the time and does not work. Going through the rest of the gears, it works as it's supposed to.

I would appreciate some input from other MT owners regarding the 1st to 2nd gear flat-shifts. Just want to know if this glitch is limited to my car, and I need to take it in.
