New car, new track... learning curve was steep! Thanks for sharing that stuff
I'm not expecting to be that fast but at least, I know where I'm supposed to be flat out
It's fun to see the progression in dropping lap times top Radical guys are throwing at tracks in Canada, including Tremblant, Calabogie and CTMP.
Those are epic laps by a VERY fast driver! Driving flat through turns 1 and 2 and again through turn 8, amongst many other things, takes huge commitment (Reads: *****!) which certainly Tyson has!

I made the switch to a radical from GT cars 3 years ago. Its has been a great move as the experience is so much more enhanced. I run about 2 to 3 times a month and it never gets old. I am a member at a track and there are about 9 radicals there. We have a blast racing each other and it seems there are more guys running radicals showing up to run with us. If I do run a DE day the radical is so much faster than the GT cars you have to be careful because your close rate is so fast.

I do an annual rebuild then regular oil changes and it just runs the rest of the time. Great reliability and stupid fast doing it.

Glad it was helpful! I see you're in Quebec - I'd say Tremblant is an even better track than Mosport for the Radical.

It looks much scarier from trackside or on video than it does from inside the car. Radical cup is in VIR next weekend which should be a good race (I've moved on to other toys in 2018).

May be easy for you, but corner 2 at CTMP and corner 1 at Tremblant were pucker inducing from my Radical seat. I couldn't will myself to drive either them even close to flat like you have shown.
In fact there's a very select few Radical drivers who say they can and have AIM video to show it.

Its on my "bucket list"... Turn 1-2-3 flat out at Tremblant... maybe not for this year though, need more seat time.
Peter, your ex-trailer is loaded and ready to drive 8hours to Mosport Thursday AM :-)

Not to thread jack, but did anyone look at a Formula Mazda before a Radical?

Tread is about defection so I guess it is relevant!

I did briefely but in most clubs, open wheels cars are not allowed with regular car (more dangerous if contact, I guess)

The event limitations with an open wheel car is a valid concern. Have you ever considered a Praga? It weighs the same as an SR3 but packs more power (up to 380hp) and downforce. I purchased one last summer and have been racing it in the FARA series this winter. It's definitely more challenging to drive than the Radical, but very rewarding - and fast!

^^^ That's darn cool.

One of the things I liked about the Radical is low repair costs of body parts, etc. in the event of a bump/bruise. Getting away from carbon fiber/magnesium of the RS was important to me. Looks like the Praga uses carbon and has a tub. Terrific things but more costly to repair.

Continuing the thread. Thought folks might find this dyno report interesting/funny. In a world of ever increasing HP - 707HP Jeep for instance - here's the dyno on the Radical before it had any meaningful hours on the motor. Note: I'm now turning 1:24.x at AMP vs. my personal best in a GT3RS of 1:31.x. It's not all about power - it's what you do with it .

Note: As promised in a month or so I'll provide an update on what it's been costing to run the Radical as an alternative to a street car for HPDE-type activities. I've now done ~300 laps in it so a decent amount of track work for two months of ownership.

When you run your Radical at AMP do you do it on standard HPDE days where you are running with regular street cars? Or do they have special days for Radicals and single-seaters etc

Radicals hitsuch as sweet spot imho. Looking forward to your cost of ownership update. With many of the tracks now selling/leasing garage space, therefore eliminating the hauling headache, its a super tempting proposition.
