Default Headlights Black vs grey (PDLS) vs clear

Today I was able to compare my .1 black xenon headlights to the .2 grey (PDLS) and .2 clears (non PDLS) under direct bright sunlight. I was pleasantly surprised by how dark the PDLS looked. It really matches the color of the GT3 grillwork very nicely. As I prefer the look of the Xenon bulbs, the pattern of the Xenon running lights, and that the Xenons are 10lbs lighter than the LEDs, this makes my decision easier to just order Xenons with PLDS for my .2 GR GT3. (Since with the .2 generation Porsche now only offers black headlights with LEDs bulbs but not black headlights with Xenons)

Head-on with these lights always looks dark. Did you get some pictures from 3/4 view and closer to side view from the sun side?

Yes, they are dark and you can buy a dark ring that will cover the outside perimeter making them a little closer to your .1 look. Here are few more shots and some of the standard Xenons and clear LEDs.

The proper black headlights are certainly the darkest of the bunch, no doubt. It's just that the PDLS headlights fit nicely right in the middle, it's not that close to the clear (non PDLS) lights such as the car on the right, which I really didn't like.

For me, its a matter of going all in with all the new black parts on the .2 GT3, or not. Both are reasonable choices per someones taste.

For a guards red or other bright color, for most people it would be best to just embrace the new .2 black bits, and order black LED headlights, keep the black headlight washers, and order black wheels.

I'm not a fan of the new black bits on the .2 so I'm ordering my .2 with the headlight washers in body color, painting all the new black bits back to body color (wing endplates, rear engine air intakes, lower side mirrors), ordering platinum wheels and Xenon headlights with PDLS.

still has a panda look as the white LED circle still has very black outer circle around the LED circle.

Even though overall headlight color is close, when comparing side by side, I thought the black LEDS were about 10% darker than black Xenons.

My last comment was only comparing the .1 generation black Xenons to .2 generation black LEDs.
This likely more of a .1 vs .2 generation headlight thing. I bet a .1 black led would be very slightly lighter than a .2 black led, but it doesn’t matter now.

I’m not saying a .2 black led is darker than a .2 black Xenon, because with the .2 generation it doesn’t matter as you can no longer order black Xenon, anyway.

dont overthink this. For .2 991 cars, you have just three headlight colors

1- PDLS LED in Black
2- PDLS LED or Xenon—grey
3- non PDLS LED or Xenon—clear
