600HP possible out of the 4.0 GT3/RS engine, who is the first to unleash it?
I was watching AP interview with EVO i believe and he was saying the 4.0 engine unrestricted makes more than 600 HP which is very impressive if true. Who is the first tuner that will extract that power out of this engine? I assume Dundon race headers and exhause will free up 30-40HP, better intake 10 HP, Tune on pump gas 10-20 HP and Race gas 20-30 HP. I guess that could be the 100 HP locked in there somewhere to be used on 992.1 GT3 and RS.

125 Hp per litre is possible but I suspect cams inlets and other bits would need changing. I seriously doubt that Porsche left 80hp unlocked.....
I can’t recall the maths but I also suspect you would need to rev beyond 9,000 rpm to hit 125hp per litre without doing something fundamentally different to the engine design. Not sure how mechanically efficient the Flat 6 is regarding friction and internal pumping losses etc.
Its not as if the flat 6 hasn’t been stared at by clever people for decades !
the usual fuel quality and safety margins will be built in but that’s I suspect nearer 20 hp than 80 hp

Based on AP statement, he is saying same engine unlocked. He didn’t speak about cams or heads change. RS and GT3 differences are only tune, slightly better catback and forced ram air from side openings which will be negated with the extra downforce anyways.
So im assuming if you put full race dundon on both GT3 and 3RS, the gains with GT3 will be more and eventually the difference will be the tune only gains. Not sure what the tune differences are, maybe slightly more timing, would be interesting to find out.

Not as a rule but it happens. The basic guideline with our Cups is below 9,500 is nothing to worry about. 9,500-10,000 you need to start investigating and above 10,000 the motor needs to be opened up. That might have changed slightly with 991.2 Cup motor but I doubt by much if it did.
I cant see Porsche going much above 9k redline for a street car that they have to back with full warranty.

I raced 997.2 Cup cars and shifts were always below 9k RPM. Actually closer to 8500RPM only.

The good thing is if they decide to continue with NA we still have a couple iterations before hitting 600 hp.
My bet is they will keep the GT4 NA and use the 4.0 for many years.
The GT3/RS will go FI and you will only see the GT2RS every once is a while for their extreme monster.

To make 600hp, you would need the RSR's 6 Individual Throttle bodies Injection (and the Motec system to run it), over 10,000 rpm, a race exhaust (that would never pass emissions or noise standards) and it would last <30 hours before a very expensive rebuild (never going to have a warranty).
AP probably threw out this number, so we'll be happy to take the next turbocharged GT3 RS that approaches the 600hp figure at ~7,000 rpm (knowing that a 600hp NA Flat-6 is not going to happen).

The race engines have different intake system, different valvetrain (no vario cam, different cam profiles), different exhaust, different tune and maybe more capable injectors. 600hp on the street engine... nono.

I agree, I used to build the Hart 1.5T turbo engines a long, long time ago. They matched the 1,000 hp of the BMW's at the time but this was only for qualifying laps and they were shot after 3-4 laps. Draining the sump showed 2-3 litres of petrol, needing that amount of fuel dumped though to cool the turbo's . But they did make 900 +hp from a 1.5 litre Turbo ! (just not for very long)
