I say much safer than here because you’re more focused because you’re not heat stroking, your heads not wobbling, no sweat running in your eyes, no debris flying in when you crash or even just spin.

And you can run in the rain, be more comfortable and keep the interior clean.

Feel free to run windows down and point by, but don’t make everyone roll down the windows, it’s archaic.
Yup +100

Voted windows up but only because “3. Free choice” was not included.
Of course, race cars with no windows can’t have their windows up so mandating windows up would be ridiculous.

My position, as well. Live and let live.

And why wasn’t this poll started in the Racing/DE forum? It wasn’t even announced in the main thread. I just found out about it. This is not a 991 GT3 issue exclusively.

There are now THREE simultaneous threads on this same issue in three different forums, that I know of.

Generally by the way the car in front stays on line. Not always but mostly.

Giving a left blinker should mean “there will be room on the right”, not “I’m moving to the left”. Most of the time for a much slower car this translates to staying on line and only going off line if the faster car couldn’t fully complete the pass before the slower car’s line would have closed the room.

or most often in novice groups where pacing on straight aways and the lead car isn't moving left or right ? Thoughts anyone
Simple. Read my previous post. Using a left blinker doesn’t necessarly mean that the slower car MUST move left — just that it will leave enough room for a pass on the right for the duration that the blinker is on (in case of a faster train passing).

^ thxs for your simple explanation , pardon me for not checking where I should have posted this poll , not sure with whom I needed to check with , just curious amongst fellow GT owners that participate in DE (not racing) if they prefer windows up or down , which may generate a data point for the guys running such events to take note , just a simple poll , guess should have included choice #3 to be either of 1 or 2 , that choice would have likely been the biggest % and would be the favorable policy my guess amongst participants

How do the blinkers work for several cars who want/need to pass? If blinkers on, keep passing? Blinkers go off, no more passing?

All these years I feel like I've been breaking the law... Putting my window up and down how I see fit. I better quit while I'm ahead.

Windows DOWN is the safe way of doing it.
There is ZERO chance of mistakingly doing a point by with your hand outside the car, whereas you can accidentally bump the flasher... And, if you have an accident, the window is down and a corner worker/ambulance tech can pull you out FAST.
And the person PASSING is the one to move off line...I read above that some have it so the car BEING passed moves out of the way. That's weird and never happening in real life. Imagine in a race where the car in front moves out of the way.
As well, and more importantly, the car PASSING has to move off line, understand a different line, entry and exit, thus improving their driving and vision. This is the point of a DE event. And lot of guys get good at DE's and then go racing; those same skills they have been using for years are now pretty useful. Imagine if they expected the car in front to move out of the way.

And if you don;t want to get your pretty car dirty, use another car or stick to car&coffee events.

I’ve not seen two workers that are going to be able to pull me out of a window together..
We should have the option to choose our own safety.

I have seen many more half assed, dangerous point by’s, mostly those really cool ones that first stretch their arm all the way to he left, before bending their arm to the right over the car, setting the car passing up for wrong side momentarily. Almost as bad as the newbys driving off the track (and so accidentally off-line) because one hand..

you are right about staying online to get passed regardless of the point by. But we are all thought that in every drivers meeting.
