OT - Any advice on cat life?
I installed a full exhaust system on a brand new car (never driven off the lot and its not a Porsche) from one of the big after market exhaust suppliers that included HJS 200 cel cats. Literally a year and 8 days later the CEL came on and then threw a few other codes as well after I had the initial CEL cleared. The car had done a total of 3,500 miles. I know stuff happens but I'm seeking general experience on how long HJS 200 cel cats should last. HJS have a very strict 1 year guarantee and the exhaust manufacturer I bought the system from is fighting my case but it seems strange that both cats have gone in such a short time? The car is driven fairly hard on the road with two track days and not a daily driver? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance,

Not specific to HJ cats. When I started heavily tracking my car at DE, the OEM cats would only last maybe 9 full track days. Once the warranty expired, I used Fab speed 200 cell sport cats. Several years and many, many track days later, I traded the car in. It still had the same 200 cell sport cats. I'm not sure this helps your case, as this is a single anecdote with a different brand of cats.

Sorry to hear that. I traded my car (same as yours) with the same exact exhaust like yours early so can't tell. However, I previously used Cargraphic headers on my 991.1 GT3 with an 02 spacer and before long, one of the cats gave a CEL. That was a heavily tracked car. I was told by my mechanic, whom I trust almost blindly, that track driving is likely to DELAY 200 cell cat failure, compared to street driving, has something to do with temperature. But it sounds that all low cell cats fail much sooner than OEM. It is possible the OEM higher (600+) cell cats is not just for emissions but for durability.
