Congrats! Awesome story.

My son and I, he was 20yo at the time, picked up my new 2011 GT3 RS at the dealership which was 4.5 hrs from our home. We split driving time back home. One of my favorite memories.

Great to read about the father son bonding!!
There is no evidence of what method of break-in is right or wrong. I guess every one has to do what makes them sleep better at night. One thing one should not do is red line her w/o the engine and oil being fully warmed up. I live with the 1000 mile rule. Have slightly over 500 miles and just started taking her up to 7000 rpms. After a 1000 miles I am done and will start hitting 9000( on a warmed up engine of course)

At about 1200 miles she goes for first oil change

I'm surprised as well. There is also the absence of the protective covers and bolsters. Was this a "used" car, or previously titled car?

Also, the front lip has been put on. That typically happens after PDI.

Here's mine when it arrived at the dealership:

Seat covers, steering wheel cover, bumper pool noodle, plastic covering on the sills, etc.

Did the OP say this was a touring car?

Never mind. Wrong car.

Great story and good on the master mechanic for keeping it real. I’ve driven quite some of my cars hard out of the box and in all honesty, they were some of my best running cars.

Ok boys... Pictures attached. I'll take more in natural light when the weather improves.

Btw, is it weird that I strongly considered driving the GT3 to the city today in 38 degree temps and rain??!!!!

NICE!!

Wanting to drive it in 33 degree and rain is not at all abnormal Crazy, but not abnormal I cancelled an enclosed trailer delivery to my home because the weather was in the 50's and sunny that day. Problem was, I forgot where my home was, and ended up driving over a hundred miles!! LOL
