Define what “perfect” means to the individual. Weight those things first. For me, i want a car that is a toy (not a DD), that i can enjoy mostly on the street, occassionally track, has occasion, is engineered well, costs no more that $200k, is fast, looks and sounds the goods, and is fun for carving up our twisty roads. It has to be comfortable (wife, bad back), and it has to have a nice cockpit. I also don’t want to worry about putting miles on it, so my toy slot is a driver, and not bubble-wrapped. Basically, my perfect car is one i can experience fully when and how i want to. It isn’t a museum piece that i am afraid to put miles on. I want to drive it.
Hence, why i bought a highly spec’d 991 GT3. It is my version of perfect. Highly subjective.

I just drove my friends new 991.2 gt3 manual as well, new car so I also kept it under 5k (it can definitely handle that vs 4300 or whatever they say for break in). The car is ridiculously compliant, insanely planted with heavy steering, has no unintended sounds and the new motor is definitely very smooth...
...most of which made me super bored as while the motor is great, I couldn't for the life of me feel any real difference btw that and my rs and R motor short of maybe a little (and by little I mean, barely noticeable) amount of torque In the beginning of the midrange and the car felt like just another carrera with a more powerful engine, bigger tires and limits about 5 times as much as you could ever safely enjoy on the road. All the little fun sounds and race car mannerisms seem to be gone in the new car. So technically the car is super impressive, but it doesn't light any of my fires short of the "oh look it's a gt3" body style which is present with any car with a GT3 on the back ha. I have a feeling the 991.1 will be the last gen to have really done that for the NA variants when it comes to 911s for ME. However, for anyone looking for a DD...this thing is PERFECT for that. I would own one for that in a heartbeat.

There's no car that's "perfect" for everything -- and there doesn't need to be. And someone's "perfection" is not someone else's perfection, either.
There are plenty of perfect cars for everyone for way under 175k provided that 1) they free themselves from the marketing-, ego-, social-signalling-, peer-pressure to always have the models anointed as "must-have" by the sales-pushing complex (car-makers, journalists, dealers, etc.). and 2) they are willing to make modest drive-train/suspension/alignment modifications to suit their driving preferences and back-roads.

Op, should try an s2000 on the street, under 4000 rpm cant get out of its own way, but after shrieks.....i ve had quite a few cars over the years and one of my favorites for street driving 16 years later is my s2000....can ring out on the street and feel kinda fast without going to jail....
op should have tried a 997 gt2 , similar prices as loaded new gt3, a gt chassis with lo end grunt of a turbo, scarey and a bit squirrely when on it....feels like it wants to hurt you all the time

I'm finding it very hard to find a single thing I dislike about my $40,000 Golf R at the moment. Over the years I've owned way too many cars, and every once in a while I find a gem that's perfect for me and I fall in love with it. You just know. One was my 94 Land Cruiser, which I put 160k miles on before selling it. Another was my 07 Avalanche that currently sits at 110k miles and still going strong. This Golf feels like those. I don't think one has to spend a lot of money to find a great car for them. In fact, other than my Spyder, I've never fallen in love with any of the expensive cars I've purchased. If anything, I've often found them to be more flawed.
