Ha! If anything, it will go up. Considering that this new RS is basically getting very lukewarm reception here on an enthusiasts' site, and the fact that Porsche just told us that there will not be any manual on the RS, and finally the fact that they are rushing to deliver Touring, GT2RS and GT3RS all in 2018 (emissions-related requirement?), the crystal ball points to no more NA engine after 2018. I personally believe that in 5 years, a manual 991.2 GT3 will be worth more than this RS, especially a Touring. Let's see.

520 hp and 9K RPM....isn't that about what the 458 Italia had in 2011 or whenever it was introduced?

J

The 458 made 570+ hp and had a 9K redline, but that was a V8.

Even the last NA GT3 in a Pdk May hold its value well. Over half the .2 GT3s are manual.

Reason for delay seems to be the issues with combining certain colors with WP. As some of you might know they ran in to some trouble with the WP gt2rs production.

The WP was/is supposed to be offered on 991.2gt3rs. Let’s see if they can figure it out

I thought no WP?

Man, with WP, price will skyrocket to 300k with ADM.

Have you guys forgot already? The 991.2 had basically a brand new engine from the RSR. Power delivery is different, TQ curve is so different (more like Mezger). With all the RS setup and with your mid range TQ increase (Mezger had a lot of mid range as well, 991.1 didn't have much mid range), you will feel much faster on the street with better turn in then a GT3. Porsche fixed all the issues I didn't like about the 991.1 in the 991.2, and now this is the RS version with the right engine now.

This cracks me up. Absolutely nothing wrong with the.1 RS engine. Epic lump and reliable. Also motorsport having run in the GT3R.

The plan was to offer WP package. As mentioned in previous post that’s looks more and more unlikely. Chris info about the particle filter fitted cars might give Porsche time to offer WP for that batch of cars. They have some issues causing delays with WP and PTS on gt2rs

The reason for the improved torque curve is the .2L of displacement increase over the old 3.8L 991.1 GT3. The torque for the new 4.0 motor in the .2 GT3 is the same as the torque in the .1 RS

To me in the looks department there isn't much changed from the 991.1 which is an already amazing looking car, so the 991.2 3RS just improves a bit on that IMO. The 997.1 compared with 997.2 RS looks substantially different to me.

As far as performance and upgrades go I think Porsche isn't doing anything new, just small upgrades over the prior gen

I think ADMs will be sky high for the .2 GT3 and .2 GT3RS regardless with all the uncertainty and people freaking out over "if this is last NA/incoming turbos" "values" "production end 2018"

Was talking about 991.1RS 4.0 vs 991.2 GT3 4.0 engines, same TQ on paper but how it is delivered is different, there are many threads on this. Even with the 3.8, compared with the 991.1 GT3, my modded 997 GT3 felt faster cuz the mid range punch where the 991 doesn't give you that shove until you pulling harder in the top end. It is way more usable on the street. In the 991, you will feel you aren't even pushing the car or using any of the power due the TQ curve.

Keep laughing. If it was that great, Porsche would of used it in the 991 cup cars (3.8 version) and kept using the 991.1 4.0 engine in the 991.2, but instead they used the Mezger for the 991.1 cup car and junked the 991.1 4.0 engine for the new one in the 991.2. Yes as a engineering standpoint, there is nothing wrong with the 991.1 RS engine....It is just I like how the old Mezger and the new 991.2 delivered power. I believe Porsche and many Rennlisters think it can be improved as well. If you don't believe how I feel about the cars from my experience, go watch the videos on Youtube, creditable presenters all said mid range TQ was sacrificed for high end power for the 991.1. I like the mid range on the street rather than the top end, and when I moved to the 991.1, I felt something was lost, but the 991.2 gained all of it back + the top end power. If I had the means, I would upgrade to the 991.2 GT3RS from the 991.1.

Porsche called this one in, they’ve bigger fish to fry and .1RS was already hugely differentiated from the GT3. But I still want it, wish the launch color was puke brown so I could write this car off altogether, but that Lizard is calling me.

TRAKCAR 02-06-2018 05:45 PM

3.8 Mezger has a weird dip as it winds up, all smoothed out on the 997 4.0.
to me the 991RS feels the same as in the 997 4.0, the 991 is revier because better gearing.

This is confusing to me and it sounds like comparing the .1 GT3 engine to the .2...The .1 GT3RS has a fat mid range torque curve and feels great on the street; it certainly feels completely different than the .1 GT3. So I'm not sure how different the .2 RS vs .1 RS will feel--I would love to see the curves.
