Once they go turbo, might as well drop the GT3 name.
GT2 would be the successor.

We are a ways away from zero turbo lag and linear power curves. True most people won't really care or even notice, but even the new turbos lack feel and response in the pedal. I think this will be the bridge to hybrid/electric until they can get the weight down. Still glad I could get a Touring in manual for a proper old school "sports" car. I may just end up being one of those old timers in vintage racing.....

This has been discussed often at other threads. One thing that has been alluded to and has been missed by the naysayers is that turbo or not, this will still be a GT3. Suspension, brakes, general feel, etc, will still have a GT3 purpose. It will just be a GT3 with a better engine. So what if it's a turbo? You don't hear anyone complaining about the GT2RS, the car that just set a record at the 'Ring, do you? Now THAT is a Porsche GT car with a turbo engine, one that has a lot more ADM and desire associated with it than even the NA GT3 RS. While we all will look back wistfully at the NA GT3 as the bygone era, I predict the turbo powered GT3 will command similar ADM, respect, and desire, and most if not all of us here will want one. It will be a better GT3.

To be fair, despite the trend at Porsche, the GT3 as a name isn't really tied to being NA. They GT3 will still be the road-going tribute to their lineup of GT3 race cars and most of the competition is already using forced induction. Same goes for GT4.

Exactly what I was trying to say. Porsche isn't going to drop a dud on us. The next one will be awesome and we will probably all want one.

Ferrari has accomplished zero lag, why can't Porsche?

I have an 18 Turbo that I track and AutoX. Power comes right off the deck. No lag!

porsche has certainly decreased lag with the 991.2 carrera/Turbo.

That said, I have extensive seat time in both a 991.2 carrera and Turbo, and both have noticeable lab (and still annoying to me for street driving), however neither has any lag on the track because the turbos are spooled up the whole time on the track.

500 NA hp with 9K redline and weighs 31xx pounds

550 turbocharged power and 8K redline and weighs 3400 pounds,

Unless I am racing for money, I will take the first one all day long.

And if I am racing for money, I will even take PDK, autonomous driving and some KERS.

Well, yes, you have a point. I traded my 15 GT3 for the 18 Turbo, and on the track or autoX course anything over 2K rpm in the Turbo results in a seamless rush of power. I guess you could possibly experience lag with a sudden stomp of the pedal, but I've yet to experience any perceptible lag. Really an amazing car/engine. I'm going to miss my Turbo. It was an interim car until my allocation for the .2 GT3 came in. New GT3 will be here in late October. I was really surprised how well the Turbo does on the track. Great car!! I hope I'm doing the right thing. In the meantime I will enjoy my awesome Turbo!

Go to the experience center and drive the Turbo and GT3 on the track back to back.....GT 3 is like someone shoved you hard from the back and Turbo feels like someone is pulling you along real fast...lag was not apparent.....Turbo was softer in its handling and GT3 relatively speaking was like a scalpel...

The engine has been refined, not much more to extract out of it apparently. The 991.2 GT3RS only has 25hp more than the GT3

What does apparently mean? According to who? Have not seen anything other than RL forum supposition on that topic.

Consistent with the gap between GT3 and RS in previous gens...
