Quick Headlight Question
I know, beat to death. Simple question. Are the lights on this car the standard LED with grey ring or the black LED with black ring? I'm thinking former, but not sure. Also, is the grey ring on the regular PDLS the same grey as the standard LED?

Thanks. I'm doing PDLS, and was just curious if the ring would be any lighter than in that photo. I'm good with that.

Ah yes, a subject near and dear to my heart... Porsche’s 991 headlight options, where they make you chose form over function if you want a classic look.
They are Black LEDs. And the grey circles are the same to my eyes between the non-black LEDs and the Xenons.

IMO, the lights on the black car I posted have the same ring as this car, so I'm assuming they are the standard LEDs, not the black, and that the lights in the picture below are PDLS.

Your picture is very bad, but I believe they’re Black LEDs because I can’t see the light aluminum beneath the bottom can. And the clear LEDs would pop more against the black paint. Yes, those are Xenons with PDLS that you posted. What do you think of the LED headlights on the black car 2nd from the bottom that I posted above?

These are black LEDs. They can appear lighter or darker depending on angle and whole multitude of factors. But even here they look a lot darker than the standard LEDs would especially the ring.

No, the ring on the black LED are a very dark gray / near black, while the ring on the PDLS lights are a much lighter gray (the same light gray as on the base lights, and the regular LED lights). You could, however, add some black vinyl to darken the PDLS ring up.
The bigger issue is more the things you can't cover up, like the bright chrome of the projector housing of the PDLS (vs. the dark bits of the black LEDs).

Thanks for all the input. I changed my build to the black LEDs. While I'd prefer the look of the xenons, I think the black ring will look better on a black car. My spec is now identical to that pic I posted.

Agreed. I wish Porsche offered the Black PDLS of the .1 generation as I like the xenon mechanical look better than the LED spider eyes, but at the end of the day I want a black light to match the wheels / trim...

Also in your original picture I bet those headlights are black LED. Lighting really changes how the headlights appear in photos. I have black LED in my .2 C4 and they go from appearing grey to almost blacked/smoked out depending on lighting, and the silver/standard LED from a neighbors TurboS goes from almost pure silver to a dark grey based on lighting.

You were the one that "incepted" me with black/tinted headlights = eyeliner But I agree on a black car if you are going darker wheels, black PDLS/LED match well
