All auction houses spend a ton to make a ton. Great money.

BJ updated policy for anything expected to go over 300k they can now have a reserve.
He had 100 cars? Damn, I don't even want to ask how he stores all of those cars. haha

they will attract more high end cars like Bonhams and Goodings now with this policy. Usually it’s a corvette s***show there. People put these corvettes up on jacks and put mirrors underneath so you can admire the underside. Can’t drive the damn cars but they sure do look shiny underneath!

Barrett-Jackson has always been about the American Muscle Car. Although they do sneak in a few foreign makes from time to time.

Indeed, watched with excitement the 2 Peugeots that went back to back (mid engine 1984 205 T16 Rally prototypes). Both originally bought by GM no less (for reconnaissance purposes it seems)!

First one sold for 170K, the second immediately thereafter for 133K. You could tell the first buyer wasn't happy seeing the same identical car he bought go through the block for ~40K less 2 mins later. But such are auctions, could've been reverse where more ppl jumped on the latter, you just never know what dynamics you'll see at an auction.

Remember people drink allot at these auctions. Overall Porsches sold well in Scottsdale. This car probably would of sold for mid to upper $200s last year.

Selling an ‘18 .2GT3 for $199k with $177 msrp.

At those numbers better grab the RS. No brainer. Lol

Hmm, maybe it's time for you to step up to a .2GT3 if you can swing it. It's official; over 7,500 .1RS produced. Time to sell quick before you lose your ADM and the PFF and the color charge and the sales tax.

The dealer of my .2GT3 order currently have four .1RS up for sale. They have been sitting for MONTHS, all have 1-3k miles. They offered to sell me one for 6k over MSRP, I passed. The .2GT3 and the 1RS are so close In performance that I value configuring my car vs buying someone else's build. When paying around 200k for a car, I want it built MY way.

Did it hit the reserve price? Do you still have to pay anything to the auction house even if the car you are selling doesn't hit the reserve price?

Right now the time frame is too short, there is no meaningful conclusion one can draw on pricing. The GT3 just came out and the .1 GT3RS is also sort of new.

It doesn't matter if the .1 GT3RS were made in enormous numbers. It is an RS, period, Porsche only put that name on really special cars and that name has been with Porsche for over 40 years.

A GT3 is just that, a GT3. Sort of special but not really and it only start appearing from the 996 generation onwards.

I have the current gen GT3 in manual. It is nice and holds it's value for about a year. Then it will continue down hill with no chance of getting back up like every other cars.

An RS will have it's ups and downs depending on the current financial climate, it will fall through the MSRP too but long term, RS is the one to get for holding values.

For performance, a .2 GT3 might be faster than the .1 GT3RS, but that's mostly due to newer tires. But a GT3 will never be as rewarding to drive on track than a GT3RS, especially the current ones with manual transmission. With the PDK in manual mode, it's the closest thing one can drive on track next to a proper Cup car.

Going through the gates is fun one the street, I enjoy that too, but on track where one wants to squeeze that last .1 second off somewhere, nothing beats a paddle shift car, that's why no current race cars from any manufacturers have a stick anymore.

And oh, I do enjoy driving a manual car one track too, tracked my Turbo 3.6, the 911R and even the Aston Vantage V12S. It is fun for a session or 2 but in the end, I always go back to my ClubSport for serious fun and speed.

So an .1RS is special but a .2GT3 is sort of special, not really, your words not mine. If we take "value" out of the equation and plan to DD and occasionally track, what's the real world difference, not much if any. I believe those looking for long term keepers, why would you want someone else's build ? If it's a keeper I want the exact spec, no comprises. Back to "value" out of the gate the RS is 50K more than a comparable GT3, so one could argue the value is with the GT3 and 50K in the wallet.
