A good low-budget compromise might be a ducktail, which looks fab with the wider gt3 hips, and some well-chosen retro stickers, door lettering. Anything more and you might as well sell and pay adm for a real one.

You can neuter a GT3, but with 20-some other 911 variants to select from, the question is why?
Buy the car you want and drive it. Don't worry about what others say or think.

not that i particularly like this idea but any pics? i have seen pics of a de-winged 991RS that looked fantastic, never a regular GT3.

Google duck wing gt3 and you'll get tons. My phone app is acting up and I have trouble attaching pics. Lots of 997 gt3 ducktail versions online

+1 ducktail.
Cost to replace wing with functional 911R or Touring wing would be prohibitive. May as well trade in on a GT3 touring.

x2...life is short, go for what you want... IMO a GT3 needs a wing, otherwise I would take a really hard look at a 991.1 or 991.2 GTS

Its funny I was just thinking about this exact scenario last night. Not that I would do it, but what would it take. Manual tranny swap, rear deck from new Touring car and you're done. I'm guessing $60k ?

Assuming you leave the interior, $35k for a manual, I think I could do the deck lid conversion with some basic wiring so really it is just parts which I would get used. Believe it or not, before touring was announced, I had been planning a wing delete. I thought the GT3RS decklid without the upper wing looked the business. I am so used to land rovers defenders where everything is modular and interchangeable so maybe I am nuts.

Yes I saw a picture of the small ducktail and thought it looked very nice and neat, more authentic than the 991 ducktail in many ways

I was called W***er by a pedestrian at the traffic lights this was the third unprovoked insult over 3 days and I had a bit of a sense of humour failure ! It put me off driving something too 'flashy' and heavily winged cars.
On the first day of owning my .1gt3 I was insulted by a first grade teacher who I found leaning against the car. Turns out I parked in the wrong spot for a whopping 5 minutes. P car drivers and specially gt3 drivers do have the "douche bag" stigma. Oh well I couldn't care less. As others have said "wear the wing with pride"

Who makes the Ducktail for a 991.2 GT3 ? The ducktail with Houndstooth inserts on my LWB seats are both ideas I can't get out of my head.

Saw a GT3 Touring on the floor at my local dealer today. It doesn’t look Special....it looks no different that the Carrera’s sitting next to it.

That’s the point. And if it were not for the stripes, the R would look like a normal Carrera too.
