Never had the wherewithall to try power shifting before, but after reading this thread played with it a bit this am. Very fun! Doubt if I'll be doing it routinely, though. Seems as if it can't be real good for the gearbox and clutch.

From what I understand it's nothing mechanical. The car's software is managing the throttle for you. So even though you've got it floored, the throttle body probably isn't open. So it helps reduce shift times because you don't have to physically let off then get back on the throttle, the car is still doing it. It's just doing it for you. But I'm just guessing.

It doesn’t feel like it’s shutting down throttle between shifts. Its no different from all my manual cars. What makes the GT3 great at it is the shifter spacing and fluidity.

I wonder what the owner's manual means by "engine speed controlled automatically" then?

Here's what I can tell you:. With traction control engaged, it intervenes. When traction control is turned off, it spins the wheels momentarily when I upshift with this technique.

@OP did you try power shifting at redline with traction control fully off?

Did you try turning on sport mode but turning traction control fully off and see if it still blips for you?

Yes i tried traction off and in low gears i can still see traction control light between 1-2 and 2-3. Didnt have a chance to turn traction and stability off but i would think it will spin the tires between those shifts.

Sport button didnt really change anything on up shifts at redline. If made for smoother up shifts at lower RPMs only. Of course the main benefit is rev matching.

If its shutting down throttle between shifts i would feel it for sure and it wont trigger traction control intervention. Sport button does control engine speed for sure. So that what they mean maybe, but not at 9000rpm up shifts from what i experienced.

I'm very jealous- if I was caught doing that in the states, I'd be in jail.

Does this power shifting feature apply to regular 991s or just GT3s?

Ah, thanks, I thought there would be a good chance there was a difference between the bikes and the car, thanks for clarification.

We camped in the desert last Saturday and we got a visitor. She sure was used to human interaction and didn’t want to leave.
