Right. So generally, half of those built in 2016 would normally have been 2017 model year cars right? And those cars build in November/December weren't delivered to customers until early 2017.

I'm just saying that declaring that there will not be 2019 model year cars doesn't necessarily mean they're making any less of them than they always intended. Right?

that's interesting. i placed a deposit with my dealer for a .2RS almost 2 years ago and am first on their list. however, i am actually more interested in an allocation to build a stripper GT3 Touring as i would would love to daily drive that car and keep it forever.

i currently have a GT4 as a track car and 991.2C2S Cab as my daily driver. i just can't see myself using the new RS as a daily driver or as a track car. for me it would be a lot of $$$ tied up in a weekend car, but man it would be an epic car.

Not necessarily true. When the Cayman R came out in Apr 11 it was classified a MY12 and that was with regular Caymans still being built as MY11s. Since Euro6 comes in Sept this may just be a way for PAG to continue production for ROW/US, not including EURO, to meet demand and to skirt the regulatory regs. Remember that MY is mainly a US thing and NOT ROW.

Typically they are, but in the case of the RS they continued to build under the 2016 MY for some reason (maybe emissions related or not wanting to re-certify for a partial new model year.)

As I recall, production volumes ramped in Fall of 2016 so quite a lot of cars were delivered at the end of 2016 and into 2017. Assuming they build to the end of December, then there is the potential to build a fair amount of cars. Trick will be the mix between GT3, 2RS, 3RS and any other special that comes along. Assuming SOP for the .2 3RS in March/April, that would match Chris's info of up to 8 month production run.

I also find it interesting that GT3s are being delivered earlier in many cases than expected. The same happened for the end of the .1 GT3 and .1 RS, both of which had healthy production volumes. If all of this is true, I expect the production ratio of GT:non-GT cars in Stuttgart will be quite high for the entirety of CY2018.

Are you leaping from the term "one model year" to infer only one production year (or less) for those cars?

The 918 was, I believe, labeled one model year (2015) but was produced over 21 months.

A manufacturer cannot actually manufacture a car in 2019 and call it a MY 2018 car. I think the OP's point is that, if this is true, all the people saying that they will keep building these into 2019 were wrong. If this is true, manufacturing of these cars would have to stop by 12/31/18. That's all.

The good news is, if this is true, those of us who have summer builds that were possibly going to be MY 2019 cars have just avoided the potential model year price increase.
