"In Dan Gurney's world, he has successfully navigated every discipline of motor racing , and to this day remains the only American to win a Formula One Grand
Prix driving a car of his own construction ." and likely to never be done again in our technically evolving world . A quote from his induction to the Automotive
Hall Fame in October 2007 where I had the privilege to be present as well. Such a Gracious Champion . Peace be with you Dan may God shower you to with
Champagne.

Race Director
I’m really sad to read about Dan Gurney’s passing. He was one of my heroes. After following his career from as far back as his F1 days in the ‘60s I had a chance to meet him in 1990 at Sears Point when his Toyota GTP team was there. He was just hanging around watching a practice session and, amazingly, he spent at least 15 minutes talking with me about everything from his racecars to the weather. What a generous and down-to-earth gentleman. A few years later, at an autograph session at Sears Point, he signed a photograph and watercolor print of his winning 1962 French GP Porsche F1 car for me, and a wooden car that my wife brought from one of her special needs classes. He didn’t just sign the car and rush her along, but took the time to ask about her kids and programs. It was an honor to know him, even a little bit. Rest in peace, Dan.

RIP, you will be missed.
I had the honor to meet Dan several times and even ride motorcycles with him a few times. I can say without a doubt some of the most fun I have had on bikes was with him and his son riding on a Sunday morning, even at his age (in his seventies at the time) he was so much faster than myself and most of the guys we rode with.
