.2GT3 for a 2016 GT3/RS
I just got an interesting offer for my .2GT3 plus $25k that would net me a 2016 GT3/RS with 1100 miles very nicely optioned. My GT3 has a MSRP of $170K. There are quite a few used GT3/RS for sale now and they don't seem to be moving that quickly. Any thoughts or opinions?

Think the question do you really want the RS for the ability, and not want the GT3 for the new engine? Is the GT3 a manual or PDK, and I’m bias to the RS because it looks very different that’s very bold. Now for the sales question I sold my UV with 2300 miles for 215K a few weeks ago, and some of the ones sitting over priced over they over paid hoping to break even. Me personally can care less about the new engine because most drivers can’t drive it to its ability anyway, and most will be wrapped up sold next year if they can get a RS. Good luck.

And the next GT car will be better than that so do you want the “for now” better car and keep chasing that or do you want the lower production best RS car out for now. If you are getting $25k over that to me is the golden ticket. You get someone else just burning money and handing it to you and you get an already depreciated beast of a car. Personally I would do it all day long. Your GT3 will never be worth $25k over sticker, ever.

Question is, do you want an RS? If yes, then the deal is compelling. If the answer is 'not really, but it's an RS' then no, keep your GT3. Is your .2 GT3 a manual? If yes, will you miss the manual, in time? Personally, I would trade a PDK .2 GT3 + $25K for a nicely optioned 1K low mile .1 3RS all day.

First off, you must be in Southern California. LOL.
Anyhow, I have a bias against used cars. You never know how they were treated. Properly broken in? Well maintained? Track abused? Whose sweat, body odor, bodily fluid is in it?
The GT3 will be new and totally yours, arguably better in so many little ways than the RS.
Putting that aside, the RS does have a mystique to it, an appeal that is undeniable.
Only you can decide if that mystique outweighs everything else. Difficult choice, but for me the answer is no.

No idea whether your getting a good deal or not. Missing info. What is the mileage on your car? Has it been tracked. Condition?
What is the MSRP of the RS? Was it ever tracked? Big factor with many buyers.
Assuming an MSRP of lets say $205K for the RS (my guess) you are buying the car for less then MSRP. Smoking deal and I woiuld grab it. If its even MSRP I would grab it. You maybe can save on sales tax but not sure with the trade if you do it through a dealer.
Also, I keep reading the .2GT3 has a "better engine". Poppy ****. What's better about it? It revs 200 rpm higher? It has solid lifters? And.....???
The .1RS 4.0 engine is a masterpeice. No issues with it at all. Walliser has confirmed the RS 4.0 does not have the same issues as the .1GT3 3.8 and were addressed prior to 4.0 production. .1 4.0 lumps have been reliable as an anvil and run and they sound like a demon. They have now been in service for 3 years and many owners have run them hard and put them away wet. No issues. If you want that extra or need that extra 200 rpms then I guess the new 4.0 is "better" in your book. Maybe you can tell the difference at full scream. I can't. My eyes start to cross at about 8000 rpm and I pull the paddle. Cup car like reaction and sound. To me both engines are fantastic and do every bit and more of what they are intended to do reliably and without complaint. RS has advantage in looks (IMHO), body components, aero and front and rear track.
While both engines are 4 liters, one engine, however, sits in the rump of an RS. That is a major factor to most including me. RS is an RS. Those two little initials mean alot in the world of Porsche and automobile enthusiasts and collectors. An RS will always be preferred and as time goes by and the new bigger and better comes down the pipe (and they will) the RS will preferred more than an non RS of the same generation or refresh. Just a fact that can't be refuted.

Will doing the trade put you in bad graces with your dealer? so getting a .2 GT3rs will be out of the question if you want one(or future GT cars). I personally would keep the .2 3 because it is new and a better car overall, just doesn't have the eye candy looks of the RS, plus it is a car that you spec'd the way you want it, not someone else's spec and someone else's used car that they were tired of.

MSRP on RS???
IMO you are getting the most you will for the .2 GT3....prices will eventually come down....maybe not to MSRP but closer.....if the RS is reasonably priced it's a no brainer....if you're paying $25K+ MSRP on the RS not a good deal

Three Wheelin'
PDK to PDK?
I would do it, and fast.
*Edit
I misread without thinking, thought you were receiving $25k. Still seems fair but not an easy decision. I think they drop a bit more after .2 comes out, similar to what's happening to the GT3s.
