I would however think PAG has done the analysis and back to back and they are convinced the PDK is the better box for track times. One final issue you didn't account for. PDK removes alot of the risk for the "missed" shift or grabbing the wrong gear. Also allows you to direct more attention to other tasks.

If MT's were just as fast and just as good I think pro drivers in WEC, WeatherTec etc...would be demanding them.

Yep but stop trying to argue these “purists” will never give in even though EVERY major racing form has gone away from manual because auto is FAR SUPERIOR not tenths superior. Manual vs PDK arguments will exist until they become like 8 tracks and then folks will still have their “I remember when” stories fill the Interweb.

I remember reading on this forum that there was a 3 second difference between PDK and manual GT3 on Nurburgring. 3 seconds difference on a track that long, I doubt there is 1-2 second difference on a 2.5 mile track all else being equal.

For me, I am not a race car driver. If the manual was 10 seconds slower around the Nurburgring, I could care less. I would still choose the manual (no I don't listen to 8 track).

Mr. Skittles your not getting it. But that’s fine. The important thing is you think you do. Stay with that.

lol
Believe me, I get it. If your happy with a 3 year old Salmon colored car great. I prefer to spec a new GT3 and have the styling of the GT3, no clown car for me. The new RS will be a beast with the new 4.0 motor, we shall see how the .1RS values end up. I'm not concerned about a cars value as this is a keeper.

Skittles: Yes, yes. I love my 3 year old salmon colored car. True. Passed up a new PTS allocation for .2GT3. Silly me. Crazzzieee! Much rather have an RS. Go figure.
What color is your GT3? What did you pick?
Color is subjective.
"RS" is more than a badge. You will come to understand.
GT3's are great and I love them. They are dream cars for 95%-99% of people.
RS is just the next step on.
New Shelby GT350R will smoke old Shelby GT350 (non R). Which one would you choose? 2010 GT3 will smoke a 2007 GT3RS. Which one would you rather have? Many other similar examples.
Sometimes it's more than a badge.
Posted some more salmon for you. You should always have fish in your diet you know.
Happy New Year.

Dave: Truth be told I also love rowing my own. There is something magical about getting it "right" and alway working to improve. My Boss 302 TA2 that I track instead of my RS. My son ,not me ran a 57.9 at Lime Rock in July in it. I can't even get out of it that fast.

Viper Green/deviated yellow stitching. As far as your example 2010 GT3 v 2007 GT3 RS, neither. I put more value on specking my car vs a badge. I think it's nuts to spend 200k on a used car that I did not spec. If you say an RS is an RS enough times, then you actually believe it. Any performance advantage in either car will never be extracted by 99% of drivers. So for me it boils down to brand new v used, specked by me v the original owner, big *** wing v smaller wing, plastic fender vents v no vents. Finally I agree color is subjective, but I don't get the Lava choice. Either get Orange or red, even guards red has enough orange in it to justify over lava.

Great looking ride! And my dad races with me as well. Great to see you and your son enjoying the car and track together!

Fair point, probably not as big a differential.

what data do you have for the assumption the new .2 will be reliable long term?

btw define long term.
Lets start with 10 years or 100k miles.

10 years 100K miles? Ok, you don't have that warranty and neither do I.
Ironically you have to own a .1GT3 3.8 to have 10 years now on valve train.

A couple hundred more RPMs and a smoother engine doesn't remotely equate to a more fun driving experience for me... and since when did sterility become an advantage in the car world? Errr any world come to think of it. Go for the RS and don't look back. Take the wing off if it bothers you, an RS without wing is almost more subtle than a GT3 with one.
I’m with Drew on this, especially with the wingless RS idea. Seen pics and that looks brilliant.

saying a wingless 911 is sterility on a Porsche forum is top 2018 stupidity

do you like barocco
or prefer classic clean style (Porsche design)?
