I would however think PAG has done the analysis and back to back and they are convinced the PDK is the better box for track times. One final issue you didn't account for. PDK removes alot of the risk for the "missed" shift or grabbing the wrong gear. Also allows you to direct more attention to other tasks.
If MT's were just as fast and just as good I think pro drivers in WEC, WeatherTec etc...would be demanding them.

Yep but stop trying to argue these “purists” will never give in even though EVERY major racing form has gone away from manual because auto is FAR SUPERIOR not tenths superior. Manual vs PDK arguments will exist until they become like 8 tracks and then folks will still have their “I remember when” stories fill the Interweb.

For me, I am not a race car driver. If the manual was 10 seconds slower around the Nurburgring, I could care less. I would still choose the manual (no I don't listen to 8 track).

GT3's are great and I love them. They are dream cars for 95%-99% of people.
RS is just the next step on.
New Shelby GT350R will smoke old Shelby GT350 (non R). Which one would you choose? 2010 GT3 will smoke a 2007 GT3RS. Which one would you rather have? Many other similar examples.

Dave: Truth be told I also love rowing my own. There is something magical about getting it "right" and alway working to improve. My Boss 302 TA2 that I track instead of my RS. My son ,not me ran a 57.9 at Lime Rock in July in it. I can't even get out of it that fast.

I remember reading on this forum that there was a 3 second difference between PDK and manual GT3 on Nurburgring. 3 seconds difference on a track that long, I doubt there is 1-2 second difference on a 2.5 mile track all else being equal.
For me, I am not a race car driver. If the manual was 10 seconds slower around the Nurburgring, I could care less. I would still choose the manual (no I don't listen to 8 track).

Sure there is. RS has now been in service for 3 years. 3.8 issues started showing up prior to 3 years in service. RS run hard by many owners with tons of track miles. Porsche press RS (poor thing) flogged relentlessly with over 30,000 tortured miles. RS engine ran in the ‘15/16 GT3R flawlessly. .1 4.0 used in two PAG flag ship cars (RS and R) in midst of 3.8 issues, F. Walliser repsenting to the Concerned owners group what the 3.8 issue was (FF mfg defect)and it has 0 to do with the 4.0, zero reported issues with RS or R, RS have from what we have seen been reliable as anvils, PAG GT engines have been hydraulic valved for generations.
what data do you have for the assumption the new .2 will be reliable long term?
btw define long term.

10 years 100K miles? Ok, you don't have that warranty and neither do I.
Ironically you have to own a .1GT3 3.8 to have 10 years now on valve train.

"The 2018 Gt3 is better than the 991.1 GT3 RS"- No one that's ever spent time driving or owned a 991.1 RS. IMHO the 4.0 in the RS is about as close to automotive nirvana as it gets. A couple hundred more RPMs and a smoother engine doesn't remotely equate to a more fun driving experience for me... and since when did sterility become an advantage in the car world? Errr any world come to think of it. Go for the RS and don't look back. Take the wing off if it bothers you, an RS without wing is almost more subtle than a GT3 with one.
