No judging - how many can properly drive a manual?

You can rev match without heel and toeing.

I guess today's top level race car drivers are not really great drivers either!?!?! Lol. Any human being can properly learn heel/toe with enough practice. Those that have always had a manual car in their line up don't even think about it.

Okay, just for giggles I would have all of you know I learned to drive with a WW2 weapons carrier, then graduated to a *****'s jeep. Yeah, I know, I'm old. No synchro, double clutch all the gears, must rev match or the gear won't go in. We all have modern cars, and you auto blip, can't rev match, can't heel toe...........you guys are P**SIES!!

Agree. Heel/toe was a much bigger deal in the days when gearbox synchros were non-existent or weak. For street driving nowadays simple rev matching is all that's required.

Here’s guessing.
In Countries where we’ve had manual cars since the beginnng, id say we can drive manual cars, in countries where automatic’s been the most common, id say some who now hold the manual so high, well maybe theyve just learned and are proud to know this ”new” method of changing gears, ”so engaging” etc, having said that i might go from pdks to manual although ive been driving manual alot in the past yet still loved pdks.

Decent at both rev match and heel toe. More time with the particular car the better i can get. Nothing can match pdk/dual clutch in my opinion. I mean i had some older manuals in my hands (international 4900 truck/ mb 190e 2.6) that i managed to shift smoothly without even using the clutch. Not sure if that’s possible on a newer manual car/truck. in my opinion its like riding a bike. Once you learn you just know how to do it.

Only at the track when brake pedal is getting buried in the floor and throttle requires a quick blip. In normal street driving, it's an absurd process which has no benefit, and I have a very difficult time doing it smoothly when light braking is required.
The autoblip is 10X better than me if that's what you're asking.

First car was an Alfa, so I learned all of the nuances from the beginning.
Fancy footwork is not something I do all the time, though...it is a joy to work the pedals in some cars, and a chore in others. In the former, I'll do it with every downshift.

some find it to be right of passage but it really is not very hard.
took me 3 hours when i was 15
"y feeling is a large majority of GT3 owners who drive a PDK and dont track their cars cannot drive a manual properly and had it not been for Porsche offering PDK, they wouldnt be able to manage a GT3.Driving a stick is one thing, driving it properly is an entirely different thing. Doing that with a GT3 is in another league all together."
====> that is incorrect. while heel and toe can be easier on drive train and smoother, i know some really fast drivers who DO NOT heel and toe period.
also when you are off beat heel toeing it is way worst than just not do it. witness the destruction of 997 cup gear boxes. most of the wear tear is b/c drivers' heel and toe off beat.
i do not heel and toe on street, if you need to do that, you are likely doing too fast for street driving.
unless of course, you have non synchronized box. then i it's really some fancy foot work.

This is probably worthy of a thread in and of itself. I think many people say they can heel /toe (I admit I can't) but fewer can do it really well.

Posts thread with "no judging" in the title.
Thread question then proceeds to ask question that is super judgmental.
