50 years apart...exactly
Hello to all Rennlisters,
I have been around the GT3 Forum for a while and time has come for me to share my news. After a looooooong wait here she is next to grandma. I dropped off the 68S, for a routine check up, and picked up my Lava Orange GT3 manual.
I have only driven it about 300kms due to wet and cold conditions here in France. I have had many Porsches of all eras and this car replaces a 2014 Carrera S. So far I am thrilled by how it sounds and drives.
I do not know if anyone else can relate with me but I find that you appreciate the manual GT3 much better if you have had an old school 911. Of course, the GT3 is light years ahead but you do find the share same DNA with the 68. They have the same willingness to go up into the RPMs. I also find that both cars need to driven with what you feel in the seat or should I say the a… I am yet to find out how the GT3 does after the breaking in period as I am scrupulously following the breaking in procedure.
The only thing thing I have yet to figure is to how to operate the PDLS+ as I seem to miss the hi-beam assist option on my digital screen.. Not a big deal but if anyone has a clue I would really appreciate your help. My 14’S used to have a click box that you selected to activate the high beam assist and then operated the high beam through the left side light stalk.
Finally, I big thank you for all of you as I have learned tons through this forum. A special thank you goes to Eduardo (Z356) as he patiently walked me through the PTS maze. I could not get the tangerine which would have matched perfectly with the 68S (tangerine is not an approved color) nor the signal orange I wanted. However the lava orange and tangerine next to each other is not worlds apart. Please do not tell me otherwise!
So thanks for reading and drive safely.

That is a killer combo, I hope to find an air-cooled companion for my incoming .2 GT3 as well in the near future - enjoy the new GT3 & S in good health.

Congratulations and vive la difference!
Both beautifully represent very different times at Porsche.
Would be fun to see a nose to nose photo emphasizing their size difference.

Very nice .. like peas in a pod. A touring in lava with the alu trim and wheels to match your 68 perhaps ? (its not to late to try and swap! )
But either way, its great to hear about your driving experience.
